Hurricanes owner invests big in AAF

Speaking of the Canes, Dundon has them in position to make the postseason for the first time in 10 years and is building a culture that breeds excitement, fun, and entertainment.

The Canes are getting talked about nationally for the first since they won the Stanley Cup and it’s not because they’re ass.

Dundon is a marketing genius and has implemented ideas such as allowing fans to sit in his suite, inviting fans who purchased upper level tickets to come down and sit in the lower level, creating merchandise based off publicity the team is receiving, and obviously the storm surge celebration.

I understand that not everyone likes hockey but this is the Carolina’s team and they could use as much support as possible. With the Panthers essentially being out of the playoff race 10 weeks into the season, fans who want to cheer for a team who will be playing meaningful games down the stretch should join the 10 of us or so on the Canes board.

Go Canes!

Dundon just did an interview on 99.9 and stated that his goal is to bring a team to Raleigh.

There’s alto this quote from Dundon:

“There’s a difference between commitments and funding,” Dundon said. “They had the commitments to last a long time, but maybe not the money in the bank. My money is in my bank. I’m sure of it.”

His balls might be as big as Tepper’s.

A buddy of mine in the RTP area said he would love to see a AAF team in Raleigh. Apparently, he is not the only one. I think it is a great idea for the capital city to get a team. I bet it would have great support. Hopefully, the league stays afloat and pushes the NFL to get better with its rules and refs.

Would love to see a team in the Carolinas but that might be a tough ticket to sell in the middle of college basketball season especially if the games are at the same time as State, Duke or UNC games which with the Saturday/Sunday schedule they are running could happen fairly frequently. I can't imagine there are too many people that would be die hard enough sports fans to go to an AAF game that also aren't fans of one of the 3 triangle ACC teams. When it comes time to choose between going to an AAF game or watching their college basketball team, the college team will pretty much always win out. The Carolinas and Raleigh in particular would be a really tough market for an AAF team in a league that has to demonstrate growth and popularity.

That being said, Dundon basically owns the league now so if he wants a team in Raleigh then there will be a team in Raleigh playing at Carter-Finley.

I’ve never been into hockey, but the whole “bunch of jerks” thing has made me a fan. It reminds me of the 2015 Panthers. Everyone hates them celebrating too. Go Canes.
