Sure there is. It's a safe assumption that when a billionaire party settles with NDAs, that they did something shady. You can play devil's advocate all you'd like, but let's be real about it.

You'd have a lot better argument for the "assumption" if it had just been Kaepernick.

The whole premise of the lawsuits was that all 32 teams had agreed that no one would pay them to play in the NFL. Not only did a team pick up Reid, but they also signed him to a three-year, 22 million dollar extension.

Why would the NFL feel threatened by Reid's case given the circumstances?

This is an example of a  situation that has no real details, but enough for  some people  to make rather  bold analyses.

Or just make sh-t up.

I'm sure "sources" will claim to know stuff but given that the breaking of confidentiality on either side would make the agreement null and void, you can likely expect that 99.99% (or more) of what comes from "sources" will be bullsh-t.

Reid didn't get anything. He was given the option of taking the contract the Panthers offered, thus proving that he was not being blackballed, and dropping the case, or looking like an idiot by continuing to say that the NFL wouldn't let him play.

hunh?  Reid still had an active case until today. He feels he was blackballed before he joined the panthers. He had good enough of a case or good enough leverage he got a settlement. I don’t think it was an apology and a hug but it can’t be the size of kaep since kaep never got another job.

Well, JRs non disclosures didn’t work out so well so maybe one day we will get the scoop.

How can you sue someone for not letting you work after they hire you?

Well, part of the problem there was that their existence wasn't properly reported. Per the NFL Personal Conduct Policy, legal agreements of that sort are required to be reported to the NFL. Richardson and Richard Thigpen declined to do so.

And yeah, details wound up getting revealed that probably weren't supposed to be, but the hard part for Richardson was that since he had multiple agreements, it's tough to absolutely pin down who it was that leaked information.

Innocent people always pay $80 M to settle. Wonder what documents were about to be reviewed by lawyers that they had to fork over so much dough to shut the whole thing down.

PS. A team picked up Reid, a top 10 safety ,in his prime, halfway thru their season.

Remember that Reid didn’t have a job for a little while. Either way you can still sue for collusion to attempt to block a hire even if the blocking is unsuccessful.

if I worked at McDonald’s and McDonald’s corporate told all McDonald’s to not hire me then a McDonald’s down the street hired me anyway I could still sue for collusion.

Kaepernick was doing nothing but blowing smoke with his made up collusion accusations which would have been laughed out of the courtroom if it had went that far. He would have been made into the joke of the century if he had tried to continue that route.

You do know these places are family owned and they can do what ever they choose in the hiring side and it does not matter what one you worked at. You would fail miserably trying to sue for collusion.
