Just because the case was settled doesn't mean both guys cannot continue to raise awareness or continue to further their cause.

Which they also could have done without comparing police officers to pigs, worshipping the murderous Fidel Castro, and disrespecting the patriotic symbols of the U.S.A.

Hypothetically speaking, even if tomorrow we found out Reid and Kaepernick were disingenuous in their support for social justice... who cares?  I mean do some of you really believe the vast majority of celebrities, people of power, politicians, etc. you hear about probably are 100% genuine about what they talk about?  Philanthropy is just a big part of how people move nowadays.

That was a dumb thing for someone in a higher-up position to say, but it isn't like it's true.  At the end of the day, it's still an important cause that deserves attention brought to it, whether the people bringing attention to it truly care about it doesn't matter to me.  I don't think every single donation a corporation makes is because they actually care about the cause as much as they do the good PR from it.

Win for the good guys, hopefully this sets a precedent for the NFL’s players and our Nation that fighting for your rights and remaining steadfast despite all negativity can pay off both figuratively and quite literally.

Colin will be on the winning side of history when it’s all said and done.

It was never about football. It was always about the money. He played his hand very well, I can give him that. He made an exorbitant amount of money and won't have to risk the brain damage and trauma he would if he'd keep playing while making less money than he ended up with.

But he still did the exact same thing Reid accused Jenkins of doing. Can't wait to hear Reid's comments about Kaepernick "selling out".

You do realize the issue Reid/Kaepernick compromised on is ENTIRELY different than Jenkins', right?

Jenkins compromised when the discussions were about whether to continue to allow kneeling during the national anthem, an expression they were doing to bring attention to social injustice.

Reid and Kaep compromised when the discussions were about whether they were colluded from the NFL and thus a job.

How do some of you not understand this concept?  You are either being willfully ignorant to this fact because you love the idea that Reid and Kaepernick can't just be two good people, or... actually, I'm not sure what else.  Because the case was literally about whether Kaep and Reid were colluded against or not.  There is no reason to think Reid won't keep kneeling next season.

Reid called Jenkins a sellout because he didn't believe Jenkins stood by his principle on the protest and instead took a payout.

Kaepernick just accepted a payout to dismiss his collusion lawsuit. If he felt so strongly that he was colluded against, he didn't stand by that principle and instead took the payout just as Reid believes Jenkins did.

I agree with your previous post I quoted below. A lot of people, especially celebrities, politicians, ect. are full of **** regarding their philanthropy.

The point of that lawsuit was to get a payout. They both can still kneel. Jenkins sold his knees, Eric didn’t. Get it together ffs

Of course it was to get a payout, are you that dense? Point me to my previous posts where I said it "wasn't about the money".

Jenkins also got something accomplished, Reid didn't.

You are reaching, my man.

Why else do you think Kaepernick would be suing the NFL other than to recoup lost earnings from the collusion?  What suggests to you he didn't stand by that principle?  He literally sued them to the point the NFL had to pay him an (almost certainly) absurd amount of money.  How is that anything like Jenkins agreeing not to protest in return for money?  Kapernick didn't change his perspective.

Then how is what you are saying making sense?  You said Kaep should have stuck to his principles... but how didn't he?  Why would he turn down the settlement that pays him just to take them to court just because?

He can look any motherfuger in the eye. He can look his kids in the eyes. He didn’t back down. Ali didn’t get paid either. Jenkins, on the other hand, was bought, never made waves again and is a persons non grata. A footnote in Kap’s story.

After listening to some here and reading up on takes on social media, perhaps Kaep did waste an opportunity to expose the NFL.  If he had something on them, he may have owed it to all of his supporters to go through with the case.  Now did he sell out the movement he began?  The only way he does that, is if he no longer kneels.  Of course since he isn't playing, if Eric Reid no longer kneels during the anthem, then the movement was sold out.
