they were after jobs which they were blackballed from over their social justice demonstrations. the Panthers gave Reid a job so he no longer has reason to pursue legal action.

not sure why this is so complicated to some people. yes i do. i'm just not allowed to say it.

A contract now =/= no standing for a suit over prior year(s).

If there was zero proof of collusion/blackballing, the NFL would have run this out into court and played the good guys.

Instead of all the proof of the blackballing coming out in public, the NFL settled.

The NFL had zero incentive to settle unless some bad stuff was in the case.  The NFL saw that an open court case would expose them in ways they didn't want to be exposed.

Now they can continue to protest and work in the NFL.

What? That’s not how court cases work.

’Running into court’ actually takes considerable resources. This could have been continued for years, easily. Lawyers. Time. Media. All money.

You could easily flip it and say if Kap and Reid had anything legitimate there’s no way they’d settle, they’d go ‘running into court’. But their representations probably pointed out the above.

At some point, something gives and while we may never know, the NFL has much more money than these two people and settling is much easier to offer for them, guilty or not.

Yeah, there's actually no comparison between the two.

It's been noted many times that collusion is extremely difficult to prove. Add in that Reid having a job and getting an extension made his case pretty weak.

On the flipside, Florio also pointed out there could have been things the NFL wouldn't have wanted brought out in court. Thus, even if they thought they could win the case, the trial itself could have been embarrassing.

As it stands, the confidentiality agreement basically allows everyone to view this result as they wish, which is basically what you're doing.

As has been said, reality is that we don't know and we probably never will.

Sure there is. It's a safe assumption that when a billionaire party settles with NDAs, that they did something shady. You can play devil's advocate all you'd like, but let's be real about it.

We need a lot more of this in today's society.  Bravo.  That another loud voice is silenced with a payoff is no surprise.  At least someone did something that brought some thought to the bullshet really going on in this country.  And hitting them hard in the seemingly untouchable sport that is the NFL is even better.

He’s not silenced. Eric will continue kneeling. Kap too

Dude peacefully protests while at his job, is essentially fired and blackballed from ever working at this unique job ever again; Dude sues his former employer in probably about as easy of a case his lawyers will ever have, and then settles with his former employer for like $80 million just so his former employer can move on from the horrible publicity and move past the awful ways in which they handled it.

What an incredible country we live in. #IStandWithKap

Yeah I don’t get how this “payoff” silences anyone. Unless there was some sort of terms in the NDA that said Reid can’t kneel anymore but I doubt that was included. Would be more bad publicity for everyone involved especially the NFL.

I can’t imagine Reed got paid as much as Kaepernick in this settlement

Reid didn't get anything. He was given the option of taking the contract the Panthers offered, thus proving that he was not being blackballed, and dropping the case, or looking like an idiot by continuing to say that the NFL wouldn't let him play.

But Malcom Jenkins sold out!!!

Glad someone said it.

To a fake organization he made with the NFL so they could make the protests go away.  They paid him, personally, for silence.  Have you heard anything from that coalition the NFL formed with his help?

You mean this fake organization?

Anquan Boldin: ‘We see teams competing to make a difference in the community’

A.) He wasn't fired, he effectively quit by opting out his contract.

B.) He refused to be traded to the Broncos, declined a workout with the Seahawks, and his girlfriend got another workout with the Ravens withdrawn due to her badmouthing the organization online.

C.) He then receives an offer from a new startup league (where hundreds of players just like hims are vying for another shot at the NFL) and since he feels it's beneath him, so he demands an inane salary (267 times more than what AAF players are paid) where he can decline the opportunity.

It was never about football. It was always about the money. He played his hand very well, I can give him that. He made an exorbitant amount of money and won't have to risk the brain damage and trauma he would if he'd keep playing while making less money than he ended up with.

But he still did the exact same thing Reid accused Jenkins of doing. Can't wait to hear Reid's comments about Kaepernick "selling out".

Remember when Reid specifically said

But apparently its ok for the NFL to buy an end to the protests if Reid/Kaep gets paid.  Just not if Jenkins does?

    • I like that a lot; Ware from Troy and also Khalil Mack who played at University of Buffalo
    • I remember the Huddle consensus over the course of last season and the previous one. Lots of Bryce is a bust, we should've drafted a 4th slot WR, should've kept Wilks, should've kept an armless Cam, etc etc. So... yea... already thought about that. I wouldn't trust the Huddle to detail my car, let alone run a multi-billion dollar professional sports team. 😛
    • bold prediction, I think Mike Green will be the best pass rusher in this class, and thats even with abdul carter.  He reminds me of demarcus ware, not just in size and prowess, but even coming from a Sunbelt school (Ware from Troy, Green from Marshall).  I think he is passionate about the sport where I think Carter as the physical freak might not have the heart.  Thats the guy Im sold on and am gonna hammer the table for, I know he's not projected 8, but he is projected like 12-13, so if a slide back can happen and we still get the guy I want, I'm 100% on board. All that said, it takes 2 to tango, I think the Cowboys are the tango-er.  IMO theres a VERY good shot that Jeanty is available at 8.  Why does that matter?  Not only do the cowboys NEED a runningback (dak sucks without a run game), but MORE importantly, gee where did Jeanty play in high school.....Frisco TX, literally Dallas Metro.  Soo, RB is a position of need and the best RB and most blue chip draft selection that  could improve the offense immensly played IN dallas metro AND will be in range for them to move up and pick?  Do ya think Jerry Jones is gonna just say no to the Jersey Sales?  Jerry might have sexually assaulted a woman and attempted to prevent black people from going to school, but he's no idiot (he is).  IMO, we get a good enough package, prlly their first and third,  maybe a conditional later and we move to 12.  We get Green, they get Jeanty, everbuddy happy.
