No saying he is getting 7.5mil a year on a 10 mil guarantee  without hitting some incentives is ignorant.. But since you felt the need to go with the name calling thing.. I see you're in your feelings.. Its not that serious dude.. You keep acting like you know what you're talking..  I don't care.. End of the day its really none of our money..

No. You attacked anyone who had the nerve to bring up salary cap ramifications. To make your ignorant, and false statements, about this deal. He’s only costing 7.5 if he lasts 3 years. It will be more when he’s cut before that.

Sorry if facts ruined your Panthers party.

Pro bowl, not all-pro. You're aware that pro bowls are a joke and lazy picks. Many players pass on the pro bowl(injuries, don't care) and players get to the pro bowl as replacements. Its even more diluted now since Superbowl players get a pass.

Really??

You said he was a bust.. I don't remember to many bust making it to the pro bowl.. Sorry..

Reality check....

You're making excuses for being wrong.. Dude made a pro bowl while being a panther.. let it go...

Did look like a slight overpay at first, I thought 5 mil a year was a fair deal, however with only 10 mil guaranteed this is a good deal, it’s gamble but a safe one because Reid hasn’t the potential to outplay this contract.

To the people saying box safeties are dying, did you not watch the playoffs ? Teams ran it religiously, so there is still good use.

Saying hurney has failed in fa already is some hints of pre conceived opinions on hurney, cockell snapped his leg in half and searcy was getting concussions left and right, Poe looks like a bum but not sure given the atrocious scheme. Back to the main point 10 mil guaranteed should cure all the bitching going on in here

So again what is the hit on the salary cap??

If it is not 7.5 a year are you going to chill??

I promise you it isn't..

Thought he played better as the season went along.  But I am with the others here, depends on the details whether this is a good signing or not.

He did get better as the season went along, and I expect him to get even better now that he has his football legs and knows the system.

The contract is fair, and depending how he plays, could be really really good.

No, it doesn't mean "pretty much $5M per season". It would be his $10M guaranteed, plus his salaries in the first two years, plus any other roster bonuses or incentives built into the deal.

1. If he makes it thru 2 season and we cut him all we own him is what's left on the 10 mil guaranteed.. Breakdown how you want..

2. Yes roster bonuses and incentives.. Like others are saying to get to 7.5 he would have to earn those.. Meaning he is probably doing a good job..

3. And that still is not the exact cap hit.. Which is the most important part..

It won’t be the first year.

 Probably around 5.3M

 Then around 7.3M the next.

Last year around 9.4M. But 3.3 M to cut. Along with 12.6 that makes 15.9M. For two years of average Safety play?

How about you post your numbers? Teach us cap guys something.

1. Correct, but that still does not mean we paid him only $10M over the first two seasons.

2. We don't know that. You're assuming the structure. For all we know, incentives could push it beyond a $22M contract.

3. Agreed. But you're miscatergorizing how contracts and the cap works.

When sporadic post the full breakdown I'll let you know .

But like I said just on the info we know.. To get to 7.5 mil he has to hit roster bonuses and incentives..

Which has already been said a couple times..

And he doesn't play well he is only granateed 10 mil..

That's all he's guaranteed to get.. If he hits his roster bonuses and incentives  he will get paid more.. Which again means he's doing a pretty good job.. Which is all I'm saying... Why are you not getting this??

Sigh...

Go back and read some of my posts in this thread if you want to know. I'm not rehashing it again.

And it 24M if he hits incentives. Not 22M. Try to keep up.

And as people have repeatedly said, how much you paying him this year as a base salary. Or next. Or the last? That all adds to the 10M. Plus dead cap if you cut him.
