The evolution is in process

There is also the irony of a coach that is terrible at strategy trying to save his job by coming up with a new strategy. Let's see what he came up with in the past: buffalo nickle mismatch, taller WRs to not over throw or get open, playing a DL guy at LT cuz he liked him and constantly playing and keeping roster bubble people over young guys that already play at a better level even with bone head rookie mistakes.

“Stick to what you know, and do it,” he recounted. “Somewhere along the line last year, I kind of got away from what I believed. You do the same thing for eight years, and you get in that comfort zone, ‘This is what we do and this is how we do it.”

What does this even fuging mean btw? Anyone else having trouble understanding it? Did he always believe in changing, but last year fell in his comfort zone? Or did he always believe sticking to what you know, but last year decided to change? And if it's the latter, wtf did he change other than calling defensive plays? The statement to me sounds like the former though, but we all know that is complete bullshit.

Also, admitting what everyone here has known by staying in a comfort zone and sticking to his ways doesn't make him seem like head coach material to others around the NFL. Other coaches know they can strategize around his incompetence.

You have a coach with 6 Lombardi's that changes everything about his team/scheme from week to week, then you have the coaches like Ron who stubbornly make any changes at all.

Brutal to watch.

I'm sorry but 31 other coaches are the same. Even the god son McVay just tried to do what they do in the SB. You make it sound easy but it's not or 32 teams would all have Bill Belichicks.

Where did I indicate that it was easy?

These guys are paid millions upon millions of dollars to coach football.  If you can't, for the life of you, figure out how to adapt, adjust, and be absurdly flexible in a rapidly changing league, you need to be put out to pasture.

We have one of the best defensive players in the NFL, and one of the best QB/RB combos in the NFL...if you can't figure out how to be a Swiss Army Knife with the likes of KK, Luke, Cam, CMC, Samuel, Olsen, and Moore, then I don't know what to tell you.

We have had the same team mentality since 2002....run first with a hard hitting D.  Defensive minded head coaches with stubborn attitudes toward a changing league.

How many rings we got?

Rivera admits publically he needs to change and evolve which for a head coach is tantamount to saying he was the one at fault and was to blame for the poor finish. Sean McVay just fell on his sword and said he wasn't prepared for the Super Bowl. Everyone praises him for taking responsibility while they say Rivera never does. These same folks after Rivera does the same, come back to call the effort fake and insincere. For some it wouldn't matter what he said. I wish they would evolve and change as much as Rivera is trying to do the same. People who criticize Rivera for never changing have done that exact same thing. Locking into a way of thinking that they can't or don't want to change or examine as the information presents. Otherwise as a Panther fan you would be happy Ron gets it, and would want him to be wildly successful. After all we were 6-2 and moving along until Cam got hurt. It ended badly but there was much optimism moving forward. Can't we wait to bitch until around October if things suck. Do we really need to complain about Rivera  in every thread for the next 6 months?

Rivera should have been "self scouting" every damn Monday after a game.  Reading that he waited until the season was over to analyze the team (you know, LONG after it even matters) makes me want him fired even more.  If that's even possible.  I've told all my close friends that are also Panther fans that I'm throwing them a party the day he gets fired.  The party might have to wait a week or so, but it will be announced that same day!  LOL.

Bill has the luxury of Tom Brady and the weakest division in the history of football. He can afford to experiment more because his division is always playing catch up. Bill is outstanding however he also has the luxury of a shitty division.

Citing a "weak division" is a red herring...

...bottom line is they have brought home the trophy 6-times with Brady at the helm.

Weak conference or otherwise, the playoffs will always shine a spotlight on any team that is not competitive, the World Champion Patriots are not that.

Sean McVay did his the same goddam day.

Ron Rivera?  It took him eight years.

Eight years.

EIGHT FUGGING YEARS.

I know you ain't dumb, so you're bound to see the fugging difference.

Rivera should have seen it earlier but he didn't because he was stuck in his head believing the delusion that things were ok and trusting too much in the course he had set. He waited too long to adapt. You don't do it after the season is over and the ship you're captain of is sunk. You do it when you pull your head out of your ass and realize the ship is sinking.

I seriously doubt that he would be doing this at all unless he had been forced to do this by the new boss who would have been completely justified in firing Rivera after the season. The dude is lucky to have a HC job at this point. Whether he's able to keep it or not depends on if he actually pulls off this evolution (which isn't that what we were promised when we still had Shula?) and if he reverts to his old consistent nature.

So there is a 24 hour limitation on admitting you are wrong or it doesn't count?

Btw I do want him to succeed, but I've seen this movie too many times to get sucked into believing it will be different this time.

I thought he never admitted he was wrong. If this is the first time exactly how is this the same movie. Sounds completely different and a change of attitude and idea. Seems if you were a Panther fan you would be rooting for this to be great. We talk about players having a short memory and the ability to move on.  I guess that doesn't apply to fans. Instead folks want to be pissed and hold onto it for whatever reason.
