Pre Combine Mock Draft's

Here's what some writers have

CBS's Ryan Wilson

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2019-nfl-mock-draft-broncos-trade-up-for-qb-kyler-murray-headed-to-dolphins-patriots-take-explosive-wr/

16. Carolina Panthers

Brian Burns, EDGE, Florida St. Julius Peppers is 38 and headed for free agency; Mario Addison is 31 and has just one year left on his deal. Burns is a long, lean, explosive pass rusher. At 235-240 pounds, the concern is whether he's strong enough to play the position at the next level, but Burns isn't just a speed rusher; he's also strong, and has the frame to get stronger.

(Falcons- Christian Wilkins, Tampa- Ed Oliver)

CBS's Tom Fornelli

16. Carolina Panthers

Rashan Gary, DL, Michigan. There is debate as to whether Gary is better suited on the inside of the defensive line or as an edge rusher. At Michigan he was mostly used as a former, but I'm somebody who sees a player with the traits of someone who could be quite successful at the latter as well. The Panthers will gladly take this kind of talent at this spot in the draft and figure out the rest later.

(Tampa-Greedy Williams, Christian Wilkins)

16. Carolina Panthers: Clelin Ferrell, EDGE, Clemson

Carolina can go in a number of different directions. The offensive line needs work and the safety position has been a question mark for several seasons. For the Panthers, it should be about prioritizing areas of concern and outside of quarterback play, being able to get after the opposing quarterbacks is paramount for fielding a winning team. The Patriots were the only team ranked in the bottom 10 of the NFL in sacks recorded on defense in 2018 that finished the season with a winning record. With Julius Peppers announcing his retirement, the need could not be greater for Carolina.

Racking up 50.5 tackles for loss and 27 sacks across the last three season at Clemson, Ferrell was one of college football’s most prolific EDGE rushers. He has prototypical size, excellent play strength, length and the technical refinement needed to be an impact rusher in the NFL.

16. Carolina Panthers

Deionte Thompson, S, Alabama

The Panthers should be thrilled if Thompson falls to them both for the position he plays and his talent to have a Derwin James-like impact. They had some of the worst safety play in the NFL in 2018, seen mostly in awful coverage of tight ends. Thompson (6-2, 196 pounds) is the rangy playmaker they need to clean up against the pass, and he’s solid in run support, too.

16. Carolina Panthers: Clelin Ferrell, DE, Clemson

This is a pick I continue to like, especially after Julius Peppers announced his retirement. That leaves the Panthers with Mario Addison and not much else. Ferrell is a nice all-around end who can create pressure off the edge and hold up against the run.

16. Carolina Panthers | Clelin Ferrell | EDGE | Clemson

This pick could go a million different ways, but the Panthers would be smart to try and replace 17-year veteran Julius Peppers on the edge. Ferrell may not have Peppers’ rare athleticism, but his size, length and technique should still make him an effective pass rusher at the next level.

47. Carolina Panthers | Dexter Lawrence | DL | Clemson

77. Carolina Panthers | Te’Von Coney | LB | Notre Dame

108. Carolina Panthers | Ben Powers | OL | Oklahoma

They could've used that same exuse for Alabama DBs up until last year how had they end up.  But We all would loved Fitzpatrick last year

And Bama OL but people here wont think twice about picking Jonah Williams

It’s 20 years and counting on the Bama OL.

You ain't kidding. I thought Chance Warmack, Barrett Jones, and DJ Fluker were all going to be stars. James Carpenter turned out well, but I wasn't drinking the Kool-Aid on the Kouandjios. It can be tough to not look at history, but it's always important to look at the individual without that prior prejudice.

Everyone seems to like Clelin Ferrell, half of the mock drafts and the only one that was repeated.

whats everyone’s thoughts on him?

Not an elite athlete but a very polished guy. I wouldn't be upset to land him but I also don't view him as a franchise DE. Should be a solid and relatively productive starter eventually.
