Panthers now have the #1 pass defense in the NFL!!

Special teams have gave up scores, so that aids the defensive stats. We have been turning the ball over, giving the other teams a short field to the end zone, and thats makes the defense stats look good also. Stats are for losers, and thats what we are!

We have given up a lot of points, but maybe that has something to do with all the pick 6's that Jake has thrown. And I agree, if Jake constantly gives opposing offense's a short field to work with, the defense won't allow that many yards. But at the end of the day, we're still #1, and we'd be close to the top in points allowed if it wasn't for Jake putting our defenses in horrible positions.

those pck 6's are yards that are not getting put on our defensive stats. Our defense is not on the field as much cause our offense is right back out there.

True, but how long does a pick 6 take ... 5 seconds, 6 seconds? Yeah the offense is right back on the field but b/c a pick 6 happens so quickly, it has a miniscule effect on the clock.

And just like the previous poster said, we've turned the ball over an NFL high 20 times this season. So if you want to look at it the other way, the offense just gives the ball right back to our defense. So in a way, our defense is constantly on the field and working with short rest. So to still have the #1 pass defense and the 5th overall defense is credit to them.

How many of those 20 are pick 6's? They only proves what I'm telling you. We given the other team, more time than not a shorter field. That in turn leads to less stats against our defense. If the team isn't having to go but 50,60, or less yards to score, thats less yards on our defense.

The defense has played well in all games, excluding ATL. The offense and special teams have given up 35 points to the opponents in 6 games. Coming into the season everyone thought the Achilles Hill of the Carolina Panthers would be the Defense. After Kemo gets hurt and watching teams run the ball down our throat during the preseason we all though the D would lose games for us. The defense has really turned it around.

If y'all want to brag about stats and we played winless Tampa, the Redskins, and got beat by a sorry Buffalo team, so be it, brag on.

Serious question: Are you a Panthers fan? Because outside of Gman I haven't seen a so-called Panthers fan be so hell bent on being negative on his own team especially in the one area of the team where they have actually been good in.

Honeslty, I am curious about this.

So even if 2 or 3 of those are pick 6's, the rest are turnovers no matter what. Just think about it this way. Our defense is on the field, holds the opposing offense to a 3 and out. Now Delhomme comes in and throws an INT. Even if the opposing offense has a short field to work with, our defense is still on the field far more times than they actually have to be. Like I said, the possessions may be short, but the amount of times our defense is on the field is far more, so in the end everything evens out.
