Panthers now have the #1 pass defense in the NFL!!

In 2002 the Panthers finished with the 2nd best defense in the league and won 4 of their last 5 games to finish 7-9 with their only loss during that stretch coming at Heinz Field to Pittsburgh.

That season 4 of the top 6 defenses in the league did not make the playoffs.

I think Del Rio left after that season too.

I'm proud of this defense. They look great. They've been stuffing runs very well these past few weeks. They don't deserve what the offense is doing to them. Their stats would be even higher if not for the offense and special teams giving teams turnovers and great field position every time.

The defense has turned it around beautifully so far this season. Major props to Ron Meeks. Our offense isn't even that bad...D-Will and J-Stew can rack up yards on any defense. Smitty is a constant threat. All we need is a quarterback who won't turn the damn ball over.

You really think this D could hang with the Colts, Saints or other high octane offense? I don't.

I think they'd hold up. They may even be better (barring injury) by the time we play the aints. They are showing up in a big way. They're all tough in the NFL. This defense doing well is no mistake.

    • It may seem like our rookies have fairly low yards. But If you combine the yards for Coker,  Legette, and J.Sanders, you get 800 which is more than Neighbors or BTJ.  Also Coker is the only UDFA on this list the fact that he's on any kind of top list as UDFA makes him arguably our best move this off season for the price we paid to get him. Slam Dunk off-season by Dan Morgan. Especially if Brooks shows us something this season. We've already seen Trevin Wallace doing some good things. Getting anything out of Smith Wade or Crumedy would be a bonus. Rarely do 5th to 7th Rounders work out. In a sort of strange way that Michigan LB we drafted in the 7th got us a serviceable backup CB in Mike Jackson. So there's that too. Imagine if Morgan has just as good as of an off-season before the 2025 season for the defensive side of the ball.
    • I love Cam, and want the org to celebrate him, but they've told him why things are how they are (he isn't retired) and he says he just isn't going to and expects them not to care... I get he's never playing again, but just sign the papers to retire and call their bluff...
    • I'm happy those 2 are finding success elsewhere. Chinn never lived up to the hype after his rookie season and Luvu just wanted to go play in Dan Quinn's defense that suits him perfectly. I can't hate on that.
