Switching to Spectrum

So my 2 years are up with U-Verse and they will increase the price.  I gave them a call and they told me they will not honor my previous contract.  They will give me a small customer retention discount and that’s it so I decided to look around.  I discovered that Spectrum gives me way more channels plus phone for the same price as my current u-verse monthly invoice.  Reading FaceBook makes me skeptical as all my contacts complain about Spectrum.  My question... is it worth it?  What is your experience?

I had nothing but amazing experience with U-Verse but I’m not pay $250 a month for TV and Internet.

YouTube TV is good as is Hulu with live TV (my top choice) but it is preference of content to be honest.  I use Spectrum for Internet as my options are limited.  I would say they are ok.  Customer service is just ok right now.  Service itself is stable,  not perfect but much better than the past.

Hulu with live tv is about 45 bucks and there is amazing on demand content.  You have to add that to the probable 70 bucks for Spectrum standalone internet and make that call.  I didnt like Spectrum TV personally.  Sling, Fubo and others are meh for various reasons.  PS Vue is solid and close to YT and Hulu.

Ive tried about everything and Hulu with Live TV was the best for me in my area.  The only channel I miss with Hulu is NFL Network and/or Redzone.  They have about everything else.

Some main research to check out would on how many screens at a time you can stream and DVR.  YT and Hulu have differences to be aware of...but its preference.  Both stream extremely well quality wise.

I have Spectrum for internet and have no real complaints.

On the TV end, I use DirecTV Now.  If you are an ATT mobile customer, you get a discount and a free premium channel of your choosing (if they are still offering that).

I prefer YouTubeTVs UI compared to DTVN, but programming and the discounts are what sold me on DTVN.

I haven't really had problems with Spectrum internet.  I've been pretty happy with it, except for the price increase they were going to hit me with.  Sadly, I'm in an area where theirs Spectrum and.....super slow DSL.  Instead of $20, I got them to talk it down to a $5 increase.  Better than $20.

As far as the TV, whatever floats your boat.  We used to have DVR and all that jazz, but we realized we never sat down to watch live TV anymore.  The only thing remotely live were Panther games, which we could get for free with an antenna.  So that's what we do.  We have HBO, CBS, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon and YouTube Premium.  We're pretty well covered, and don't miss much.

I have no issues with Spectrum.  Did the cord cutting thing for about a year. Kept my phone and internet ($90) and used PSVue and Sling to stream (had to have both, because the wife needed Lifetime, TLC, and Animal Planet).

Now we're back with cable, and it's cheaper than having multiple streaming services, plus we get a lot more channels. Our bill for phone/internet/tv is around $155. Bottom line, it's just more convenient.  And the customer service is better than it used to be.

I'm still a "Time Warner" customer but I need to go into their office and see what deals are there.

I can tell you that Youtube TV is by far the best option if you're going streaming route for TV.     Hulu live was garbage on Spectrum for me and like 4 other people not sure what's up with Spectrum and that.    SlingTV is not good, DirectTV streaming was OK, Playstation Vue is OK, but YoutubeTV takes the gold for me.

Weird I have had zero problems with Hulu with Live TV.  Zero.

BTW:  YouTube TV is not supported on Amazon Fire devices.

Both are good services...try them both with the free trails.

Hulu on Spectrum?

Everyone and I had issues with it just stopping and coming back on.    It wasn't even like a bandwidth issue because HD was maintained it just stopped and came on.    Maybe they've fixed it because it has been a year or a little over.    Hulu told us it was a known issue on the ISP and they were looking into it but no time table.

Are you trying to say Hulu with Spectrum internet service?  I may be reading this wrong.

That is what I use and it’s been flawless...but could be different in another area.

Yes, specifically CLT area, like I said maybe it's been resolved.

Yeah, I'm in Concord with no worries.  Maybe it has matured since your experience.  I like History Channel and I like Hulu better overall (the On Demand content is damn near crazy).  I fuggin miss NFL Network especially around draft time but can live without it.  I had PS Vue for a good while and liked it until I started getting stupid arse "inactive user" pop ups that kicked me out of the service and had to reactivate.  That shet is ridiculous and made me flame like hell, but Vue is solid otherwise.

Will say...none of them are perfect but Youtube TV is really close with no issues streaming.  Hulu with Live as well.  Those 2 are closest to perfection but dammit...get NFL Network and a RedZone option even at a small extra charge.

I have Amazon Prime, Netflix and Hulu with Live TV and outside of NFL Network and HBO haven't found anything not available.  Limitless type options.   BTW:  Prime has added an amazing amount of content lately.  That they don't steam TV yet is surprising.  They could corner this whole thing with their muscle.

    • I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.
    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
    • The lack of production is especially surprising given how much effort the team put into coaxing the best from him.  In just six short years he’s had the opportunity to work with 3 different GMs, 7 different head coaches and 10 different starting quarterbacks.  There’s literally no excuse to be made that one of those combos didn’t work.  It might be time to look withIAN.
