It's a great idea to add a roof.  I think a lot of fans don't particularly like to brave the elements and this will ensure that we get the most Panther fans in the seats instead of other team's fans.

"Other team's fans" aren't ending up "in the seats" because of "the elements"...

....it's all about the benjamin's.

Part and parcel to that, Panther fans are sellers of those seats because odds are they are going to see a mediocre product --- and if they can collect some great coin, AND watch said mediocre product from the comfort of their couch, that's an arbitrage they are willing to exploit.

Plus a roof is needed for a potential Super Bowl. Charlotte is not quite warm enough in early Feb

Sure it is, plenty warm.  Football is an outdoor game, millennial pansies need to grow a pair.

Jets/Giants Stadium doesn't have a roof and they got a Super Bowl.

That said, nobody wants to come to Charlotte for a Super Bowl, what a dud that would be.  (not saying it will never happen, but makes no sense)

Some places actually do it right and pay off the loan early. This is also the reason that newer stadiums are becoming more of a retail space in addition to the stadium.

Curious which "places" you are referencing who did "it right" and paid "off the loan early"?

Any specifics there?

So is a high school gym, what's your point? It's outdated. That has nothing to do with the game.

It's not outdated in any way.  Fans who attend a game in Panthers Stadium lack for nothing, period.  It's a wonderful stadium in which to watch an NFL game.

Arlington has done it multiple times. original Rangers Stadium and now ATT stadium. New Rangers stadium coming too after Arlington voters voted in favor of 600m for a new stadium. They do it through bonds and then get it paid for with hotel, car rental and a  .5 sales tax among a few other things.

That's one (somewhat unique) municipality.

Others?
