The case for BPA all day

I think BPA is fine for us.  In the first round, you want an impact player.  If we can get an impact WR, TE, CB, Safety, Guard, whatever.  I'm down.  I just want the best player.  There's a lot of DL talent in this draft, which would be helpful with our aging DTs needing a kick in the butts.

I dont want a DT before the mid rounds.  Butler being a bust and that whole 2016 draft soured me on DT and CB early round picks

nah... if ed oliver falls to 16, i would be all over that.

The case for BPA is simple.  It's the smart thing to do... always.

Otherwise you end up drafting 3 CB's in one draft and a few years later on only 1 of them is on the roster.

Take the highest rated player on the board.  You can never have enough good football players.

BPA in the 1st - OT, C, S, TE, DE & maybe LB. Not - RB, WR, CB, DT. I say TE as I'm not sure Olsen will be his old self. Hoping. DE's take time to develop and management doesn't have a year to wait for the 1st rounder to contribute.

BPA in 2nd - add in CB or DT and LB def. Looking for a 1st rd talent that dropped.

BPA in 3rd or above - any spot including RB (finding a CMC clone would be great)

So, here is one nice thing about having an older roster that is lacking in talent at so many positions... You truly can grab the BPA in every round and it is highly likely you need him.

Take a moment and think about a position on the field the Panthers could not use a first rounder.

Probably not RB. Other than that? I honestly can't think of a position the Panthers could not use. Help me out.

Quarterback...?

We don't need any offensive playmakers. For once we have those. If we need a tall possession guy, we find him in FA not the draft. I'm still afraid we take LB at 16 b/c Hurney. If that LB is a pass rushing specialist, then so be it. I think reaching for C/G here is too much.

Mark my word, if a QB tumbles, we will trade back and make it worth grabbing an offensive lineman in the late first. Vikings may look for someone to groom behind Cousins.

I 100% guarantee the Panthers are taking a defensive player in the 1st round. After going offense in the 1st round the last two seasons, and with Ron apparently taking over defensive playcalling, he's going to want a new toy to play with. It's a strong defensive draft, and considering the personnel they have, they could draft a player at literally any position on the defense and it'd be a great move.
