Still don’t believe that defense wins championships??

Goff is a glorified game manger. But, he is a very good game manager but he has a lot of talent around him and for him to be successful I think it will need to stay that way.

Not a lot of teams could score the way the Patriots defense was playing last night.

Then  you have Bellicheck vs McVay. One who's been there done that over and over and one who never has let alone one of the youngest coaches ever. Just really not a fair matchup.

The stadium was basically 90% Ram fans.

Saints vs. Patriots would have been better. And before that I really think Chargers vs. Patriots would have been better.

Chargers lost to the Pats by more points than the Rams did.  And they couldn't actually play in the SB.

Irt the Saints, their offense struggled over the last 6 games, so I am not sure they would have done any better.  We will never know though.

You're forgetting that the Rams D held the Patriots to 3 points until the 4th quarter. Then the Pats found the 1 set that cracked the Rams D and ran it 3 times in a row passing to 3 different receivers. McVay should've called a TO after the 2nd time to get the D all on the same page to stop it. Not much offense from the Patriots after that TD. Honestly, I don't think the Patriots offense & Brady played that much better than the Rams. Edelman getting the MVP is a joke; it should've been Gilmore. And I think the Rams D was equal to the Patriots D.

Despite all the talk about how bad the game was I loved it and thoroughly enjoyed watching it. A defensive slugfest from both teams. Romo entertaining despite the slow pace. I had no horse in the game so I was hoping for a 3-3 OT.

pats defense wasn't that great. rams offense was objectively atrocious.

This. The Rams defense was actually great on Sunday in shutting down the Patriots. But a bad and predictable gameplan and a starstruck QB who can't handle the big stage were the end of it. How do you not try to shake things up with any reverses or a trick play? Pedersen is the better offensive mind. I wouldn't even say McVay got outcoached, he just underwhelmed on the biggest stage.

McVay is overrated as a HC - great offensive coach but not HC material. I am sticking to this. He doesn't even talk to the defense. That team is co-coached by Wade.

I don't think McVay is a HC in 3-4 years. Especially once the talent is gone in LA

This has been said about Rivera as well.  Great defensive mind, but not HC material.

I actually like that the Rams have leveraged McVay's and Phillips' areas of strength, setting them up for success.

With Norv onboard, Ron should return to doing what he does best/defense and allow Turner do his thing on offense.

Now, if Carolina finds someone capable of proper time management, the Panthers could be dangerous.

Goff looked like he was lost the entire game, showed that he’s not as good as people make him out to be. A healthy Cam would’ve shredded that defense

That defense would have looked much different playing the Panthers. And, the Oline would have been Cam's undoing- Pats consistently won the LOS on defense.

For the future, no I don't. The NFL will continue tweaking the rules to favor offense. Having a poor offensive Super Bowl become the lowest viewer rating SB in the last decade will only strengthen their resolve to do so. The final four teams this year we're all Dom offenses. Don't let a green coach and QB getting schooled by the GOAT coach make you lose sight of that.

Rams had 62 yds rushing and that was the key stat.  No play action option and NE won through superior DL and OL.

There ability to cover made their DL look superior.

The Pats secondary did a good job of giving the Pats D-line time to manufacture pressure.

    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
