Should the Pats be favored to win again in 2019?

No team has ever won 4 Super Bowls in 6 years except the 70s Steelers. I can see that changing next season.

1) Belichik and Brady are coming back.

2)I think the Pats have about 10 picks in this year's draft

3) They play in the AFC East and will almost certainly give them a home playoff game and probably a bye.

4) The only team that appears to have any chance of beating them in the AFC playoffs is KC, which  won't be able to do so without significantly improving their defense. Even if they get home field  advantage it won't  mean anything. Seriously, how do you score  31 points in the 2nd half at home and still lose a game after picking the opposing QB off two times?

5) Overall, the AFC is weak. The Pats lost 5 (4 AFC and 1 NFC)  games to teams that didn't make the playoffs (Jags, Lions, Titans, Steelers, and Dolphins) and still got the 2nd seed in the playoffs this season.

6) I don't see a team in the NFC I would pick to beat the Pats in a SB game heading into this off-season.

How do the rest of you feel about 2019? I'm expecting more of the same.

No. Age is catching Brady. He can no longer effectively throw down the field. There's only so much you can do to scheme around that. They won tonight despite this. Belichick just took McVay and Goff to school. Brady and the Pats will likely see a ton of press single high coverage next year because they honestly don't have a way to threaten it.

I made a typo in the original post. The Pats have been to so many Super Bowls lately that I forgot they lost to the Eagles last year when I typed the original post.

They've won 3 of the last 5 title games and haven't missed the Super Bowl since Peyton Manning retired (who had a 3-1 record vs Brady in AFC title games)

If the pats become the first team to win three Superbowls in a row next season then there is no doubt the NFL is rigged.

I mean it would pretty much have to rigged for them to take last season's Eagles SB win and give it to NE.

This fact alone proves how weak the AFC has been, and for how long.  The Patriots are a well run organization, but if they were in, say, the NFC East for the past 20 years, you could easily cut their success in half.  If they were in the NFC South for the past 20 years, you could probably cut 2/3rds of it out.  The AFC has been completely full of garbage teams for several decades.

Yes, the Brady's and Mannings of the world have won many super bowls, but their path to the promised land was MUCH easier.

Not yet at least, until they find the next Edelman or a legit #2 threat. They do have a great run game with Sony Michel. He's great, a good back. They'll be right back in the mix with the Chiefs and company. Wouldn't be surprised to see the superbowl run through Foxborough this time. They'll find a way to get it done, they have a ton of picks and belichick always finds a couple of gems and good guys. I damn sure wouldn't put my balls on the line against them and say they wont make it to the SB next year.

    • For the silly people that worship her it will be that.  The Coleman 'legend' thing, they did that with another fairly average player that was here and I sort of mocked or questioned the 'legend' status. Instantly caught crap for insulting someone's favorite Panther. So okay, Kurt Coleman is a Legend.
    • You allow him to compete--you all are talking as if I am proposing making him the starter. Give him a new coach, new weapons, good OL, etc. and see what happens. You are saying, "Well Damn.  It did not work for 3 guys..."  Right now, our C is injured, we lost our top 2 WRs.  Better question:  If you need a QB, Why would you not take a chance on bringing in a QB who was a former first rounder, a good arm, intelligence, mobility, youth, etc.  and see how he does out of NY--with a better OL, better running game, better receivers.  I am not saying give him a 10-year contract, I am saying give him a chance. You act like there is no improvement on offense here--it was a 2 year process, and next year is year 2.  To me, how can you sit there with Bryce and an opportunity to sign a veteran QB on the cheap comes available and you say--"Not us. We're good.  We are waiting for Patrick Mahommes."  Jone's problem is obviously mental--and he has little support.  Why is this so frigging hard to comprehend.  It is called "bottom fishing" and it is better than sitting in the boat.
    • I think we're going to fall from behind quite early and be forced to abandon the run game.  3 rushes -2 yards 1 catch -10 yards
