Antonio Brown trade?

Trill OG

Recommended Posts

A month ago I wasn't for this move, but now that Cam has got his shoulder clean up and reports that he is expected back even before TC. Why not go after his buddy Antonio Brown? It's time we get a elite WR in this division. We know they already have chemistry off the field Cam and Brown. So I think they would be a perfect fit. Cam seems to do well with smaller shifty WR's anyway. I don't know the cap situation or if we can even afford him. But I would trade a 2nd round pick for him or Samuel/3rd. If nothing else it gives us a explosive offense and we can try to outscore teams. Our defense isn't going to change overnight we have to many holes to fill. If AB is available we should look into it at least.

What would you offer for AB?

AB will command a 1st round pick, just like Cooper did.

Push comes to shove, I think I would offer a 1st. Cam is not getting any younger, if we could put a lot of weapons around him on offense and lesson his workload I think we could make a run.

Cmac/Brown/Moore/Samuel/(Olsen if healthy) is damn near the most explosive offense in the NFL.

Absolutely not, awful idea.

Cam has weapons, Cam fans need to seriously stop this ‘weapon’ thing. Franchise qbs need to elevate everyone around them not the other way around.

Weapons, elite oline, backfield threats, elite coaching....like really any qb would thrive with that.

What about defense? Pass rushers? Left tackle? But put a first rounder and more resources in Brown...another weapon?

NO.

Giving Cam a defense is giving him a weapon. He needs a DE...he needs a LT. Just solid players. Not flashy moves but what he has offensively weapon wise is more than enough for a franchise qb to succeed.

Cam took us to the Super Bowl with a defense that kept him on and the offense on the field to score and a decent oline that allowed him to make plays. And that was with no CMC, an aging Stewart and Ginn, Bersin, Cotchery and Funchess as his weapons. THAT is what franchise qbs do. It’s time to learn that.

I’d just be afraid to give up a mid first round pick when we have so many holes to fill.  Would AB help us win another 3-5 games?  I don’t think he would, especially if our OL and DL play aren’t any better.  That first round pick, plus the 22+ million in cap space Brown would command, could go a long ways toward adddessing both sides of our line.

I agree we have other needs. My point is we are not going to fix the defense overnight, we have to many holes. Why not load up on offense and try to outscore teams?

As for Cam doing more with less. That was true in 2015. 4 years later Cam is almost 30 and he can no longer carry a offense as he did when he was 25. It's time we start surrounding him with a explosive offense. Ryan and Brees have it, why can't Cam have it?

AB also isn't just another weapon, he is the best WR in the NFL. Add him to our team we become the most explosive offense in the league maybe behind the Chiefs.

Not willing to part with valuable capital when our team has to get better in the trenches. AB would be great...if we didn't need to essentially revamp our entire defense and possibly the OL.  Get AB and at best...we become the Steelers that couldn't make a Super Bowl?

For once, the area where this team is set is Cam's weapons.  RB, WR, TE?  Yeah, we have plenty of talent there. Get some fat people or freak defensive players with that 1st round pick and cap space.

We don't have enough money to fix all our holes on defense anyway. Best thing we can do is patch it up. We are weak at damn near every level Dline/OLB/Secondary. This defense is going to take more than a year to fix. I would rather go all out on offense. We still have to outscore teams like the Saints and Falcons at the end of the day.

This is like saying Smitty would have helped us win Super Bowl 50 when Von Miller and Demarcus Ware couldn't be stopped by our oline.

We've solved the offense skill position problem. We've got Norv, Samuel, DJ, CMC, Armah, Olsen, I.Thomas . We've been moving the ball up and down the field at will and the only thing we were missing is a deep passing game. Also we've been investing high picks into the offense for the past 2 seasons, and before that we were drafting busts on the dline. So that gets into my next point.

DEFENSIVE LINE is the absolute worst thing about this roster. You cant do poo on defense if you can't get the QB consistently and that has been a mighty struggle for them. Now Peppers retired, Addison is getting old. We have nothing at DE and our DTs massively undeperformed. Combine that with mid- round picks and a fairly low salaray cap situation...

Left Tackle and Oline also need work. We could do some shuffling with current parts but I'm of the mind of us needing at least one high draft pick and one great free agent signing to shore up LT, LG, C .

Not having good pass protection on the edges and not having a dominant pass rusher to get the the QB in key downs and distances has been our achilles heel for the longest time and I'm sick and tired of it not being addressed year in and year out.

You can absolutley fix a defense over night. Through free agency and drafting. This defense could easily be elite again in one off season. The core is there.

We don’t need AB.

Yeah, let's give up a 1st round pick and spend all of our cap space on a WR nearing the end of his prime when we have no pass rush and possibly need a starting OT.

I'd be for it if I thought we were an elite WR away from a SB run, but that's not the case. We have a lot bigger needs than WR. If we made a move like this, it'd have to be for a LT or pass rusher.

Wouldn’t touch him unless he came with a pay cut and for no more than a mid round pick . The guy is a cancer. Very talented but will disrupt the team when he’s not getting 20 targets a game and breaking personal records

What Gettleman really should have done was get Desean Jackson earlier in Cam's career, that would have answered a lot of receiving talent issues.

In an alternate universe we could have drafted Jarvis Landry instead of KB and got Desean Jackson as a FA instead of Ted Ginn.
