the only and I say ONLY reason JR took Cam in 2011 was the lockout creating a cap.

Cam was as raw as raw gets, a HUGE liability. Business move. Because JR didn’t have to give out a Stafford type contracts. A new cap for first rounders was put into place making Cam not as big as a financial risk. Cam was a boom or bust type and with the cap in place the risk, specifically financially risk was at a premium low.

id bet my life had a cap not been put in place the panthers, JR,  would have never EVER touched cam.

Regardless, I think Smith is unprofessional in spilling old secrets. Who cares?  All teams hit and miss on players, and to think that a player was in the conversation is ridiculous.  Smith is trying to be controversial because he is now an announcer/analyst.  Getting his name out there.

You think the head coach is gonna come out publicly and say he didn't want to pick someone who is now a first ballot HOF? What reason does Steve Smith have to lie? I could see Fox wanting someone else and Richardson wanting the local NC prospect. I'm not too concerned about what Chris Mortensen thinks. As far as I know, Chris Mortensen didn't spend 12 years working for the Panthers.

   Since you’re going to the trouble of reading NYG message boards, who are theses players everyone is upset about? Are they upset about his draft too. Just curious because I would never dream of going to another teams board to find out how they feel about a GM.

Lol no point in arguing. Fox never came out publcially. Him and mort are good friends. But believe what you want. End of the day Julius peppers is the greatest panther of all time and it worked out. Also Jerry Richardson is a disgraced from owner who is banned from the nfl. Even better.
