Davis says he would play in Atlanta

People can change their minds. Especially when they’re faced with the reality that the game they love the most is over. The “lies” you’re talking about aren’t that big of a deal.  Y’all really need to chill it’s just a game.

Technically it's correct to say that Davis said things he didn't live up to, but I also think it's more complicated than that.

Davis said a lot of those things while Jerry Richardson still owned the team. And frankly, it's not hard to believe that if Richardson was still in charge, the team would probably pay Davis whatever he wanted to stay around. Heck, he might have even gotten a "thank you" contract. You never know.

There's also Ron Rivera. Even with Richardson gone, it's well known that Rivera always wants players to leave the way they want to go, on their own terms. Who knows whether Rivera might have had conversations with Davis on this very topic?

Having had that relationship and expectation for years, it's possible Davis believed that even under new ownership, the Panthers would still carry him into the sunset like a hero rather than treating him like just another player. Heck, plenty of fans were hoping for that too.

But obviously, he was wrong.

Dude, people change their minds.

thats not lying, it’s changing your mind. Lying would be like saying I swear I’ve never ran a red light before,..

the guy wants to keep playing as long as he can,.. and why shouldn’t he if he wants to?

havent you changed your mind and decided to do or not do something going forward that previously  you said differently?

i don’t know why everyone has to get butt hurt if a player wants to keep playing after a team parts ways.

Not sure where you got butt hurt from but ok. I have clearly stated many times I am glad TD isn’t coming back and it was time to move on. I actually got out of my way in my last post to say idc where he ends or if he plays next year, it is his life and career.

all I said is that I am tired of hearing his BS. You are indeed correct, people do change their minds, but not on literally every statement they make over a 3-4 year stretch. No one made him say those things. He likes the drama and I for one am glad he will take it somewhere else next year.

I apologize if you thought the butt hurt comment was focused on you specifically— I was more intent on those who seem much more judgemental for those reasons.

personally I think people in general should not think out loud, not public broadcast anyway.

we all change opinions based on our experiences, how we feel at every moment.

suicidal thoughts, love, prejudices, anger, pride, guilt should all be kept to ourselves—because in a blink we can think the opposite.

athletes are people, celebrities and they all have these thoughts just like the rest of us.

have a bad game and feel old,.. I’m retiring— play great, feel great— I’m playing. Get wronged by someone who happens to be a different sex or color,.. boom we are a hater in that moment— condemn all in that moment— minutes later we love all,.. call ourselves evil names in the mirror.

its stupid to make public statements or use social media to express opinions every time we feel like it—

TD is no different. He made comments— moments later probably felt the opposite. His stupidity just matches up the rest of us— except he’s a celebrity and we take his comments to the bank.

He’s not washed up but obviously not what he was. He’s gonna make some plays for whoever signs him.

You are letting him go for a reason, he is old and seasoned at this point and doesn't have the wheels. We already have 2 starters at the lb position but could use the vet leadership for Duke and Oluokon. Someone to show them the ropes. I doubt TD would want to come in on the vet minimum to be an backup.

I am astonished. at the hate directed towards TD.  The man has been a great player and went through some rough times but has always bleed Panther Blue.   His one blemish the 4 game suspension and I felt he conducted himself honorably.  He wanted to remain a Panther but the organisation is focusing on getting younger.  So they declined to bring him back.

How anyone can trash TD because he slips on a new uniform just amazes me.  Will it suck to see 58 in a different color?  Yes, of course.  If the Panthers don't want him than I hope he goes to a team that can use him. Everyone except TD thinks he's done.   Seeing him in Atlanta Colors would hurt but we said goodbye so it's his choice.

I could see some hatred if we offered him a deal and he jumped to another team for more money but we don't want him.

I will always have a great admiration of TD regardless of where he goes.  He will, in my mind, always be a Panther.

It amazes me that people who'd wear no pants to work if it meant an extra $20,000 a year in salary could get mad at a football player willing to play for a rival team for $2-$3 million.

I think what bothers most people ( at least myself) is not that he will leave to go play for a few more million...but rather that he doesnt really NEED to do it. I think most of us are hurt more than anything that he won't retire a Panther...and insist he can still play ( which of course...he can)...but risks either not getting picked up by another team ( shameful)  and tarnishing thisd legacy with this team for what...1-2 million at best?  People wanted Smitty to have a statue outside. He was great, but he left/was cit whatever the team and played for another which for me that makes it impossible to have his statue. TD also, even more than 89 deserved a statue out front, but him going to play for another team possibly makes it almost impossible for that statue to happen.  S. Mills played and retired here. JR founded this poo and is the boss noone likes these days but needs to pucker up to his ass. TD should be there also!

TD has the chance to go down as the greatest Panther of all time. But no...he wants to be an old head still thinking he is 25 and chase another season. Good on him. I wish he saved the energy that he feels that makes him believe " he can still play" into retirement and his family...rather than leaving it all on the field.

It hurts to see this man go down like that.
