Imagine telling TD and Luke that we are gonna go out and lose a game to improve our draft position.

Good luck with all that!

That’s not what a coach would do. He would sit his starters and let the backups play, supposedly to see who is worth keeping around.

Thats pretty much what they did.  They just didnt do it with the intent to lose.  They did it with the intent to win.

Snap Counts:

Shaq: IR  (Aj Klein 53%)

TD played 52% of the defensive snaps.  Probably final game as a Panther. Sure lets sit him after one series because future draft pick.  (De Davis 62%)

Luke played 10% of the defensive snaps.  Luke is Luke. Played one series.  (Alex 51%)

Donte Jackson (100%) and Bradberry (98%) played full game.  I guess these 2 guys made all the difference.   (Eli Apple was 92% and Lattimore was 50%)

Is that really your solution for RR to lose that game?  Pull Donte Jackson and Bradberry?  btw Michel Thomas 79% of Saints offensive snaps.  So it wasn't like they were lining up against back ups.

You win.  You're right...its just too hard to LOSE a game in the NFL.  Somehow, against the odds we did it 7 games straight.   Must have taken all of RR's brainpower to figure it out.   RR sure knew the secret formula then.  Guess he just forgot.

We did not beat the stains.  They gave us the win.  I guess they even know how to lose better than us.

Its sad we're even having this discussion.  This team was a total disaster this year.  But we showed them stains.  Yeah we won!!!!!   HERCULES HERCULES HERCULES!!!!

Now make a case that 7 positions in any other round would make a big difference. If it didn't do much in the first, the effect later in the draft is even more a non-issue. The only issue that makes any sense is you always play to win just like we did. This whole discussion is loser mentality and something I promise you coaches and players don't even consider.

Yes but the draft capital is worse. Harder to trade up for a falling talent in round 2 with pick 15 in round 2 than pick 9 in round 2. Doesn't matter about difference in talent later in the draft but missing on "your guy" bc u don't have the resources matters.

There are plenty of "your guys" up and down the draft.

“Your guys” is what gets GMs in trouble.  I’m sure everyone ever picked was a “your guy” to someone but they are still wrong more than they are right.

Ssometimes you might be better off not getting “your guy”.

I'm not sure what is being said here.  Trying to get certain players  through your draft isn't a good strategy?

'Ssometimes you might be better off not getting “your guy”.'

Sooo draft choice doesn't matter much?  Really?

We should have beaten Tampa in the last game in the 2016 season.  We didn't...so we got CMC.  Had we won that game CMC would be playing somewhere else.  Would we bet better off?  Probably not.

If draft position was so big then how do teams like the Steelers and Patriots etc keep picking at the end of each round and still win. Obviously draft position is a small reason for teams to do well. Not the big deal you are making it. And who is to say we wouldn't have gotten CMC a few picks later. Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

How was Rr supposed to lose if the Aints gave us the win?

I'm not arguing what would have been the better outcome for the Panthers.  I'm just not sure what the Panthers could of done besides kneeling every offensive possession and running field goal block defense on every defensive possession.
