@Fox007 never said anything about "trying hard" and also he was in on every run play - which means we valued and trusted him to block when needed to. I also remember our team rushing for over 100 yards multiple times Derek Anderson was QB under Shula, is that a product of Cam?

Jimmy Graham actually lined up more at WR than he did as an in line TE for all three teams he played for. Greg actually played in and on the line. Bad comparison.

It's unreal how we sit here and say players are not good.... I am going to align with fox007 on how unreal our fans are with their asinine comments.

I said Olsen is not a good player?? And you criticized MY reading comprehension?

My issue is with the underlying premise that a TE is not worth a roster spot unless he is good at both blocking AND catching, which I countered with Olsen who is elite at one and below average at the other. That premise is even more ridiculous with its deeper underlying assertion that Manhertz can’t catch, when he never even gets targeted. He does everything he is asked of, and he does it well...it’s not his fault that he is only asked to block. Yet you have 75% of this thread comprised of posters directly or indirectly ridiculing Manhertz and/or the signing. And you have the audacity to post your unintentionally ironic and hypocritical last little paragraph. I guess only fan favorites are exempt from criticism, huh?

You know who else was in on all our run plays? Our o-linemen...including guys like Matt Kalil, Michael Oher, Amini Silatolu, Chris Clark, Nate Chandler, etc., all of whom virtually have at least one full season under their belt. Do they all get credit for being good run-blockers for their respective games/seasons?

I love the selective trust you’re exemplifying in our coaching staff...I suppose when it only fits a specific narrative. “Hey Rivera valued and trusted Olsen to block on all our run plays, so that’s how you know he’s good at it”. Meanwhile let’s all call Rivera an idiot and criticize his personnel decisions, his propensity for playing vets, and even criticize him for playing Manhertz over Ian Thomas.

$2.3m doesn't sound like much but people need to remember that on a lot of team, less than half of the team actually makes more than $1m for that given year.

Lets assume a cap cost of $1.15m (chances are it isn't split evenly over the two years but lets go with it).  On the Patriots that would make him the 25th highest cap cost.  On the Rams it would make him the 18th highest cap cost.

I would guess they are expecting some more growth out of him and expect an expanded role maybe.
