Trade Chatter

Anyone know how Thon Maker can play the 4?

Just throwing stuff at the wall.

But trade Monk and Batum for Drummond and Bullock

Then Frank for Maker

We still hold onto our 1st rounder

PG: Kemba, Parker

SG: Lamb, Bacon

SF: Bridges, Bullock

PF: Maker, Marvin

C: Drummond, Zeller

Needs to be said too...but if there's any chance Kemba leaves or the Hornets don't want to commit to getting him help...he needs to be traded.  If they're going to re-sign him, they're also going to have to get rid of some of these contracts - - which means goodbye 1st round pick or young guys. Sweet Jesus this team has no hope the more I dive into it.

Would be weird ass timing because of the All-Star game, but either get serious about helping Kemba or get serious and trade him instead of being a perennial borderline playoff team with no hope.

Apparently we are looking into Andre Drummond.  Talk is Batum and Monk to Detroit.  Not sure how I feel about that as Drummond has 3 years (like Batum) on his deal for even more.  Plus losing Monk would suck.  Tough one as Drummond is young and productive but strictly a old school center.

Still Kevin Love talk out there but I doubt that happens.

That would be a horrible deal for the Pistons, no way they are dumb enough to make that trade.

Monk is a bust.

AD demanding out in the Nola.  Writing on the wall he wants LA.

The thing that scares me.

Some talking heads claiming they are hearing

Lebron would like a AD, Kemba, Lebron trio.

So if they trade for AD, they will target Kemba harf in FA trying to recruit

We could still hold onto Kemba and try like heck to convince him to stay and build around.

If we dont think we can.  We need to offload him to the Lakers for everything they have before the Pelicans do.  Because AD will just sign there seasons end reguardless

This sucks.  Cho put us in a corner and no room to build around Kemba.

davis wants out of New Orleans...any chance for us?

theoretically we could trade Monk, Bridges, and Batum for him and obviously would take multiple first rounders

But the real question is why would we do that? It's very clear that the reason Davis' agent dropped this bomb right now is bc Davis wants to go to the Lakers (right now they can trade for him but the celtics can't) will be interesting to see if the Pelicans cave to these demands bc Boston can offer a better package this summer.

If we trade for Davis we would be in the exact same spot the Pelicans are in this year except teams would offer us less than what we traded for him knowing he was going to be a FA in a few months

of corse there is a chance.. but a slim chance.. we don't have a trove of assets like Boston

we could play third wheel though.. but i think Gasol or Kanter or Drummond would be more in line with what we are able to pull off.. it should be interesting.. I trust Mitch right now and know we are going to make a trade before the deadline.. we have to or Walker is gone

OH- by the way.. no way is Miles going anywhere.. he will be in Hornets colors during the dunk contest - bet that.. Monk on the other hand seems like the odd one out for sure..

The AD situation points out the problem all small markets seem to have - holding on to their star players.

In our case, Kemba seems to actually want to be here. Which is why he'll be re-signed here.

Dont forget

AD seemed to say the same thing with Nola as well a few years ago. He signed the big extension after his rookie contract, then 3rd season into it demanding out.

It is possible to compete in small markets, just harder

You have to draft well.

Sale well to stars (not the 1st team all NBA superstars but just other stars)

And get the right key FAs

After resigning AD the Pelicans shot themselves in the foot.

They made trade for Cousins.  Which while talented, had question marks.  There were people, The Same Day that trade went down, who swore Cousins would walk in 2 years reguardless.  So they threw young talent away

Say they didnt make the Cousins trade

They could have a backcourt of Jrue Holliday and Buddy Hield (who is starting to come on avg 20 pts and shooting right at 46% from 3)

Also the 1st rd pick given up for Cousins as well

Lauri Markkanen went 2 picks before (easily couldve traded up)

Donovan Mitchell

If the Pelicans had a Holliday, Hield backcourt, with Markkanen paired with AD in the backcourt.  Then Possible FA at the 3

You may not see AD saying he wants out like he is today.

On the flip side if Cousins does not get hurt maybe they make deeper playoff run.  Maybe they retain him if not for the injury.

I just dont see it

2 bigs like that on 1 team just doesnt work in todays league.  Both guys are true modern day Centers

2 studs down low but a weak backcourt and 3 spot

And ontop, when that trade went down, everyone was scratching.their heads because it was pretty much known that Cousins wanted that play somewhere else (Cleveland with Lebron, Washington with his buddy Wall, etc, not Nola)

I don't disagree but they were making it work before Cousins got hurt.  They were winning games.

They were winning game, but they weren't legit contenders

And when the trade initially went down people were cratching rheir heads as he pretty mich let it known he was going to walk.  And there were a few teams he was eyeing and Nola wasnt 1

Cleveland with Lebron, Washington with his buddy Wall etc
