Cam had shoulder surgery

Prolly been said, but arthroscopic procedures can also be exploratory.  And last we heard from Cam and team personnel, they still didn't even know what was wrong with the shoulder.  It's troubling because all of the procedures done before showed no structural issue or damage...  so it worries me that this was only to see if they could get a better look inside.

I'm quickly losing hope that Cam's arm will ever be the same.  This is depressing.

Stop being a negative nancy, remember that Cam is Superman.

Here is what I know, based on  getting scoped vs. getting cut  in relation to  what I know of Cam's situation.

It bothers me that they benched him after the game on Dec. 17.  Thursday was 5 weeks later.   Why did they wait that long?  5 weeks of rehab is a LOT following being scoped. He could be throwing again in April or so.

This suggests that they are going to try this approach to see if it works.  If not, Cam sits 2019.  It does not suggest that  this is the fix.  It could be, but if you  look at recovery time and calendars, this could be a hail mary before pulling him.

I always admit when I do not know and explain reasons I have a perspective--pure association--not  like some of the Socrates-ish  characters here. However, it simply makes sense that if they did  not know what the problem is, if you cut him now, he may  sit out  all of  2019.  If  you scope him now  and it  does not work, he sits out 2019.  This may simply be a step in the exploratory process, in other words.

Per Jordan Rodrique it was a clean out, so def not just exploratory

I know, but the success will be determined when he rehabs and throws--pain, tolerance, etc.  I probably should not have used exploratory--procedural maybe.  Clean is good--but we will not know until April May June area if it was successful.   My point?  If it was questionable or debated, you scope and hope for the best.  If not, he misses the year anyway.

Tbh, I think this is like a helpdesk IT worker troubleshooting. They are hoping this minor fix helps so they don't have to invest in a major fix. I don't see this as the long term definitive solution.

That is a good way of putting it.  I agree that it is possible.   I am saying that we should celebrate with reservation.

Hope u r right...haven’t been good results in the last couple of yrs

Scar tissue complications appear more related to the patient and procedure more than the doctor. Correct me someone if I wrong but I thought that inflammation and scar tissue is a body reaction to surgery that tends to vary by individual.  Not everyone heals the same even with the same procedure. Plus scaring and pain seem related to the amount of damage you incur and how invasive the surgery was.

This whole notion of doctor negligence seems unlikely. The Panthers want the best and doctors want to be associated with top notch athletes like the Panthers. These guys are great. If they weren't they would be gone. Last, Cam is a pretty smart guy and likes his body. If he had any doubts about the procedure, would he have done it. How many medical opinions do you think he sought? A second, third and fourth? If this weren't the most recommended treatment he wouldn't have done it.

Now let's hope everyone was right and he comes back to 100%. That my story and for now I am sticking to it.

Yeah I always thought scopes were mostly to clean out scar tissue.

My daughter said they do some rotator cuff surgeries with arthroscopic now. I don't think that is what it was, simply that you can't always assume the procedure has to be small in order to be done arthroscopically. I trust the minor procedure verbage that accompanied it until shown otherwise. Plenty of time to whine and complain if things don't work out down the road. No need for conspiracy theories yet.
