This confirms that they don’t know what the problem is.  And that is not good.

My first thoughts also.

Again, hope for the best, but...

Or, they knew exactly what the problem was and just didn't share that info. They may have known it was scar tissue from the previous surgery and the scope is all he needed.

For Cam's sake and this board's collective sanity, I hope so.

No structural damage would suggest the totator cuff was fixed properly the first time. The likely cause now was increased inflammation and scar tissue. Which is common with rotator cuff surgery.

Yup, I've had rotator cuff surgery and the resulting scar tissue caused a lot of soreness. If I was an NFL quarterback I probably would have needed a procedure to clean it up. The scar tissue definitely limited my range of motion... I can't imagine being asked to throw a football a thousand times while experiencing that. I ended up going through physical therapy to break the scar tissue up (no fun). Sounds like the procedure he had was to clean out scar tissue that just was not responding to other kinds of therapy quickly enough. This makes me feel pretty optimistic about his ability to return to 100%.

The whole it should have happened earlier is likely off base. Before any surgery you have to allow inflammation to subside which can take days or weeks. Then you have to decide if surgery is needed. If he had no structural damage then the most likely surgery was to clean up any scar tissue or fix some minor issue which developed as a result of the original surgery or wear and tear which was the source of the pain

I doubt they waited too long. The tendency for most athletes is to get surgeries quicker than the average person to promote quicker recovery  versus letting things rest. How many times do they put pins and rods in simple fractures to speed the process when most folks just wait until it mends on it's on.

Yup with mine they just had me do physical therapy to break up the scar tissue for as long as I needed to do it because someone wasn't paying me 100 mil to throw a football.

The best news about this surgery is that it doesn’t change the fact that the Saints got butfugged by the refs and blew a super bowl appearance while getting bounced from the playoffs in embarrassing fashion for the second year in a row.

Get well Cam!

If you want Cam to be the Panthers QB at 37-39, you shut him down for 2019 and make sure he gets PRP

Honestly, it would likely take Tepper stepping in and making that call. I highly doubt a coach and GM who are likely on the hot seat would be willing to make that call. Hell, Ron has played him twice with obviously hampering shoulder injuries down the stretch so we know he isn't going to make the call.

i had arthroscopic surgeries on my knees ~12 years ago and it was more or less just to scope and clean the joint. relatively low impact procedure and i was playing volleyball in ten weeks with no physical therapy.

imo the fact it was arthroscopic is great news.

Finally, some common sense and rational thinking!
