If Matt Moore wants to play in the NFL at a higher level...

Moore has a strong arm if training camp is any indication. Jase is just pulling stuff out of his arse again, a hobby of his.

Strong compared to what, zod?

Maybe you've forgotten his attempts at deep balls fluttering in the wind and falling short 30 yards down the field.

saw moore at training camp the past couple years....arm strength isn't a problem.

saw him in the game yesterday...still not a problem.

zod was pretty much right about everything he said, i suppose.

... he's going to have to improve his arm strength somehow. To say he has average arm strength is being extremely kind.

Anybody know if this is something our strength and conditioning coaches can help much with?

And before the inevitable "but, pennington" responses come, let me ask you, how many other weak armed QBs have had success recently?

Yet he has more than Jake.

trade for Jamarcus Russell. He has a strong arm.

true story jamarcus russell is basically the most physically gifted quarterback of all time. when he went to LSU he already had perfect mechanics. if he'd been born in a nice middle class suburb with a stable home life he'd be blowing the nfl away.

as it stands shortly after he got to the nfl his uncle i think who'd basically raised him and acted as a mentor passed away in something really brutal, like a car jacking gone awry or something, and he just collapsed mentally.

look how f**king jacked he is....in high school. he was sixteen here

then compare it to now.

lol @ y'all thinking yesterday proved me wrong

Okay, so now he can throw the ball 10 yards farther than chad pennington. Still had to throw it as high as it went far.

If anything MM's attempt at a bomb proved me right.

There are two types of deep balls Jase so I'll break it down for you

1. "Let him run under it"

This is the case when the receiver has his man beat and there is not a "window" the QB needs to fit the ball into. Smitty had his man beat and the safety was not a factor. Since Moore and Smitty are not exactly in perfect rhythm, its best for Moore to put a little more loft on the ball to give Smitty time to adjust (which is what happened). Say if Moore was the starter for 5 years and he put that much air under it to Smitty who had been with him everyday and it was a little off target, it wouldn't be acceptable but considering the circumstances it was the right pass. Tom Brady and Randy Moss connect on these passes very often.

2. "Bullet"

This is necessary when facing a tight window on say something like a skinny post or sideline route facing the cover two when the safety is on the hash. Sometimes this is a back shoulder throw if the coverage is tight so the receiver can adjust (Note: a ball that Jake typically throws that has too much loft and is behind the reciever is not a "back shoulder throw" its just underthrown, look to Manning and Wayne for an example of this)

So you see the throw was the appropriate throw for the situation...plus, that ball traveled about 60 yds in the air, show me one qb who throws that on a rope

Yeah, your best tact would be to just ignore this thread completely. Not to dig yourself a deeper hole. :D

Yes, you are right. That is exactly how it works in madden.

Matt Moore is extremely lucky that the safety was napping and lets just leave it at that.

The pass to Smith was nearly flawless. Threw it just a little bit to much to the inside, but Steve had enough room to adjust, so it didn't matter. The pass to Moose was underthrow a bit, I don't think he had his feet set for a good throw.

But his arm strength is decent. Not great, but good enough. As I said earlier, its not about arm strength, its about touch.

He has good mobility, and decent arm strength, and his accuracy wasn't bad. The only question yesterday was his decision making, and honestly thats the question for almost all NFL Qbacks. Can they make the right decision regarding where and when to throw it. He made a couple of bad decisions yesterday, but thats to be expected. Its going to take a few games to figure out if he has what it takes.
