True Detective - Season 3

Anyone watching? It's on par with the first season, IMHO. Way better than season two already. I like that I have no idea about anything so far as to who did what and why.

I watched the first 2 episodes.  Definitely off to a better start than season 2 which I never finished.

I quit season 2 about 2 episodes in.  Just couldn't watch it.

 

This one is fantastic so far 2 in.  It seems like they are using the West Memphis 3 as a guideline.

Pretty damn good season so far.. also noticed woody harrelson is involved with the show so that's awesome.

Stay off Reddit and any article about a new fan theory going around. I read it and it is SO good, so spot on to date, and SO "how could he think of all this so far", I'm pretty sure it was posted by a disgruntled production staffer. I mean, really. There's no way someone could just come up with this theory after three episodes. It's too good.

Need to watch it, loved season 1,  bailed on season 2 15min into ep1 ( couldn't stand the cast)

Watched 7 episodes today. Not as good as season 1 obviously but miles ahead of season 2. Looking forward to next week. I've got some theories.

I feel like there needs to be a Roland/Tom flashback scene where they hook up and that's why Roland took a break with Lori and why he doesn't have kids and why he was so emotional over his death. Roland loved Tom.

Also Wayne definitely solved this case but his dementia made him forget. This has been my theory from the start. We'll find out.

with only 1 episode left seems like there is way to much stuff that needs to be tied up

Really liking this season, this won't be popular but probably more than Season 1. Hard to top Matthew and Woody though.

Anyway, I  stay away from looking into theories as to how this might end but is it out of the realm of possibility that Harrison, Hoyt, and "Mr. June" kidnapped Julie to get her out of a bad situation and are actually good guys? Kind of like a "Gone Girl" movie type thing? I have my reasons why I think that, but the boy dying doesn't fit in unless it was an accident or unrelated. Maybe I am looking too hard for a twist that isn't there.

Im digging the story but the production of this season is coma inducing.  I cant watch it after dinner or it puts me to sleep.  Too much space in the dialog and too many scenes that should have taken 3 mins that they used 5 for.

Agreed. Things certainly picked up in last week's episode but episodes 4-6 could have been done in 2.
