Senior Bowl prospects of note

Even on some of his highlight vids you don't really see much bend and burst, but that isn't really what he is.  Like you said he might be better as a 3-4 DE or maybe a LDE in a 4-3 that can move inside on third down passing situations.

I'm not saying he should be the pick at 16, or even that he is going to a great player, just pointing out there are DEs that do more than just "bend" and speed rush from the QB's blindside.

True,

But they do need some sort of bend and speed.

Thats a big thing with outside pass rush.

He couldn't really get pressure on the edge Tuesday.  But looked comfortable at rushing inside.  Thats not what you want as a 4-3 DE.

I would suggest if you actually have the time to check out the actual practices.  Every year I start reading about people and then I get a completely different idea after I watch the senior bowl practices. This guy below is a damn cowboys fan but knows his OL and DL stuff. I enjoy watching him every year. He has more vids than this one on the senior bowl practices

From watching the practices here are some thoughts on OL/DL

Zach Allen has no pass rush moves.

Montez Sweat has great length and is impressive.

Chris Lindstrom is the best OL in the senior bowl.

At center Jenkins is definitely #1.  Bradberry has issues against power rushes.  My favorite is McCoy out of Texas A&M.  He looked better than most and we can get him in he 3rd. We had a meeting with McCoy

LJ Collier is a great late round edge target.

Don’t overlook Tyus Howard at T

Not a fan of any of the Wisconsin OL.

Jalyn Jenks is good.  Probably only a 3-4 guy though.

Risner impressed me more in game tape than at senior bowl.

Forget his name but the guy that can do the back flip can do more than just that.  Powerful bull rush.

The Wisconsin OL may not be impressive in drill settings but I'd put money on those guys in the NFL. Wisconsin has been one of the if not the top NFL OL producers in the last decade or so.

Dieter  does play multiple positions which is nice.  The Wisconsin OL I am interested in is Edwards the RT.  But he isn’t at the senior bowl.

After watching Senior Bowl coverage.

Sweat-Easily should be our pick at 16 if he is there. Shows a deadly combination of power and speed with good technique. Once he grows into his frame he will probably be a consistant 12+ sack guy off the edge

Dillard-Should be our 2nd option at 16. Shows great feetwork and use of hands. Definetly the best techique at tackle this draft

Risner-Nasty Offensive Tackle. Will struggle against some speed rushers but is a monster in the run and screen game. If we can clean up his footwork he has the potential to be an all-pro level player. Definetly should consider him in the 2nd round.

Adderly-He can play Nickel or safety for us. Can definetly be a 2nd round pick for us if a guy like Abrams is gone. He has a lot of speed and has good reactions in coverage.

D.Samuel-Should be our 3rd option at the 2nd round. He is smaller then we may want but shows great twitch off the line and in route running. Is tough to press because of the use of his hands off the line. He can go up one on one with his vertical. Also we can use him in the return game

Deiter-Can bring some more nastiness to our interior oline. Isnt very athletic but he can win the majority of his one on one battles. If his technique can improve he can turn into a top end OG

McGary-Definetly a project tackle. But he has incredible size and power. He just needs some coaching. We should consider taking him 3rd round if we dont take Dillard in the 1st or Risner in the 2nd

Chalres Ominihu-Is an absolute GEM. Definetly should take him in the 3rd round. He has elite edge rusher size at 6'6 and his lateral ability is almost as good as the top pass rushers in the draft. He can definetly fit into a 3-4 OLB and he turns corners at a high level. He plays a bit high but with proper coaching that can be fixed. He could turn into a consistent double digit sack guy in either a 3-4 or 4-3 system.

Lonnie Johnson-He is a bit slow at CB, but he makes up for it in with his size and length. He can fit into the nickel/2CB (depending on how much speed the other slot recievers we are facing have). He has very impressive size and tackling. Tre Flowers would be a solid comparison for him in the league. A 3rd rounder would be well spent on him

LJ Collier-We should definetly take a look at him in the 5th round. Definetly a project dlineman. He can fit into either a 4-3 DE or 3-4 DT. He has a lot of competitiveness and a willingness to compete. He is limited athletically but shows good strength and push. He could turn into a Charles Johnson type player if he hits his ceiling. Worst case he is a solid depth lineman.

More Senior Bowl and Non Senior Bowl prospects of note:

LJ Scott: 5th-6th round RB. Would be a good change of pace back for CMC

Ryquell Armstead: 5th-6th round RB. Solid do it all back.

Hakeem Butler: 2nd-4th round WR. has the highest WR ceiling in the draft IMO. He is huge and has great one on one ability. And he doesn't look slow at all on tape. Could be dominant in the NFL

Will Grier: 2nd-4th round QB. Id consider trading up into the early 4th round if he is still there. Is clutch and can make any throw in the book. He just forces throws at times

Tyree Jackson: 4th-6th round QB. Big body at 6'7 with a big arm. Has accuracy issues but he is a tough body to bring down.

Isaiah Johnson: 4th-6th round CB/Safety. He has a lot of size at 6'2 and good speed. Could be an immediate impact player for us

Mark Fields II: 6th-7th round CB. He can fit into Nickel fairly well. He has solid awareness and reactions. Which make up for his lackluster size and average speed. (Son of former Panther Mark Fields. He also went to my hometown HS. Hough HS.)

Wes Hills: 7th round-FA RB. Shows good vision and power. He is a good finisher of runs. Rarely does he get knocked back in one on one tackling inside Decent speed for his size. Would be a great change of pace and red zone back behind CMC.

That's that Voch Lombardi guy right?

I watched his evaluation of Sweat last night, and he was really harsh.  Basically said he was tall and long, but needs a lot of work...really emphasized A LOT of work.  Said he doesn't have the bend or speed your looking for, and that he was struggling against an OL that wasn't very good.

The OT he was going against was Dalton Risner.  Apparently, he had no idea that the player he chose to evaluate Sweat was against one of the top OT's in the country, and he obviously didn't have a clue who he was...which shows a distinct lack of homework.

He also talked a lot about the fact that Sweat couldn't get off the block, even when he barely engaged and the play was over almost immediately.  I think this guy is good as a small piece of info, but I wouldn't take him too seriously.

Yeah I noticed that also.  He does make disclaimer that he is learning a lot of the guys on the fly.  He likes it that way so he doesn’t have preconceived notions beforehand and let’s the work speak for itself.  He not wrong that sweat needs to learn a lot.  But he also said multiple times that once he gets to the league Sweat’s  measurables  are going to help him a ton. Especially his arm length. Also Dalton did shut Sweat down during their game this year.   So I agree with Voch that he needs a lot of work.   I’m still high on Sweat.

Here is another interesting tweet from Matt Miller today on Sweat:

Why should players come to the @seniorbowl?

Montez Sweat was a solid tier 2 edge rusher with nice traits before this week. After interviews and a dominant practice he's receiving top 10 talk from scouts.

Come compete and you might just make a few million while you're at it.
