Just got out to the practice

Sweat is a beast

Beat one guy pff the snap easily with his speed, then put a OT on his azz with a bull rush the next snap

He is that guy we like in January and will be over-researched, picked apart,  and we will move on to the flavor of the month--by April, we will be  talking about  someone else--however, I like him.  If Sweat is a top 15 pick and  there are 3 QBs taken, we will get a good player.

I really liked that T from USC---came out of nowhere  The DE from  Texas (liked him before the game) the  S from  Miami, the WR from Cal Davis or whatever--seems to be a  good year for  OL.

With Senior Bowl practices ramping up this week (game on Saturday), I figured I'd start a thread on players that could be in line for us at 16 or later.

1. Nasir Adderley, FS, Delaware (5-11, 201, 4.49) - He's the topped ranked safety on Dane Brugler's board. His cousin is hall of famer CB Herb Adderley, who played for the Packers and Cowboys back in the day. He's got the bloodlines.

2. Andre Dillard, OT, Washington State (6-5, 290, 5.23) - Brugler wrote that a strong week could lift him from probable first rounder to cemented first rounder. Brugler writes that Dillard is "A better pass protector than run blocker on tape, Dillard rarely gets beat around the edge due to his light feet and core power."

3. Insert name of any edge rusher or other DL: The strength of the draft is on the defensive front. Boston College's Zach Allen, LA Tech's Jaylon Ferguson and Old Dominion's Oshane Ximines are guys to track this week.

4. Insert name of any potential backup QB: The North squad is being coached by Jon Gruden and the QB's on that roster include Drew Lock, Daniel Jones, Ryan Finley and Trace McSorley. If Lock/Jones have strong weeks, I could see them going at the end of the first round.

5. Nate Davis, OG, Charlotte - He's a local prospect right up the road. We need depth on the interior and he could be in play with a strong week.

Oh hell yes.

I think he could be a SDE. Plus drop down on 3rd downs and rush from inside instead of a NT. Sure looks the part.

That actually might be our biggest need on the D-line.  Everyone wants to keep talking about weak side ends but we actually have people returning there.  RDE has nobody right now.  Nobody is always a bigger need than somebody.

Unfortunately thought I'm not convinced SDE is going to line up with our pick at 16 so we might have to look for one in the second or third.  Omenihu could be in play there.  We can double dip for all I care.  Sweat in the first and Omenihu in the second.

That would work for me too.

After watching the game and practices it is apparent that this year is a pretty good class for interior OL.  I have lots of questions marks about the tackles.  Dillard may have some potential but I’m not sure he is a day 1 starter which is what we need. That leaves Williams, Cojuste, Taylor, or Edwards draftable Day 1 tackles.  I also thinks it drives up the price for Darryl Williams on the FA market.

Interested to see how Hurney works this one out.

Can any one say Speed Bump McGee at LT?  SMH.

I will be studying those 4 remaining tackles pretty hard.

Did you watch the game or read any of @ncfan's posts? I saw him get beat a few times and I didn't watch the entire game. I'd be really pissed if we took him in the first, which is I believe where you want him taken.

Word is that he's probably a top 40 pick now. Elite upper body coordination, not so great footwork, can play anywhere on the line, and is extremely intelligent.  I'd like to snag him in the 2nd round and play him at center, but he might be gone by then. His intelligence, strength, communication skills, out of this world hand placement/fighting, I like taller centers, put him in front of Cam for the next decade. I can't see him as a top 20 pick, even Riley Reiff didn't go top 20.

2nd round is a different story, but if a true guard like Lindstrom is there, I'd be all over him in the 2nd knowing we'd have stud like Norwell. I really hope Williams is healthy and resigns. I think we can get a great C/G in the 2nd and another good one with one of our 3rds/4th. It'd be nice to have top options in all 5 OL spots and have respectable backups.

All the talk about OT.

But the loss of Norwell was a Huge hit.  VanRoten is alright as a backup.  But the combo of him and Clark was a disaster

Lindstrom looked dam Solid this week.  Most have him as the #2 OG (Cody Ford's #1 on everyones board at OG)

Give me Lindstrom in the 2nd then package our 2 3rds to move back into the 2nd for Bradbury.

Those 2 lined up together quite a bit.  And worked well together.  Saw a few double team pancakes with those 2

Draftnetworks All Senior Bowl team from last week

https://thedraftnetwork.com/2019/01/28/tdn-2019-all-senior-bowl-team/

OL – Dalton Risner, Kansas State, Chuma Edoga, USC, Chris Lindstrom, Boston College, Garrett Bradbury, N.C. State, Ben Powers, Oklahoma

Analysis: Offensive line may have been the best position group in Mobile, but still selecting these five was fairly easy. Risner and Edoga dominated in pass protection most of the week, while Lindstrom and Bradbury consistently put people in the dirt. Powers wasn’t elite, but he held up well and outplayed his teammate Dru Samia.

EDGE – Charles Omenihu, Texas, Montez Sweat, Mississippi State

Analysis: Omenihu was the best edge defender in Mobile, from his pass rush moves and cornering ability to his excellent run defense. Sweat reinforced everything you see on his tape, but didn’t disprove the doubts about his lack of flexibility and athleticism.

#NCState OL Garrett Bradbury

HT: 6-2
WT: 304
Arms: 32 1/2”
Hands: 10 5/8”#SeniorBowl

This guy is very intriguing and by all accounts had a hell of a week. I want a LT, DE, and Center, in that order, BUT, if we grab this guy, he's a day one starter in a position of obvious need. Cant be too pissed about that.

He's going to be around mid to late 2nd

I really hope we move back into the 2nd packaging those 3rds to get Bradbury or Jenkins.

We can get 2 STUD interior OL in the 2nd

Why is everyone so quick to package the 2 3rds we have.

Its not like we couldn’t use 4 quality players in the first 3 rounds.

I’m sure somebody thought moving up for Hall was a good idea also.

If you have a legitimate stud like a Bradbury fall to the bottom of the 2nd.  You make a play for him

Its the issue.

Would you like a Dollar and 2 quarters

Or

A Dollar, Quarter, and 2 dimes

Ryan Kalil was a late 2nd round pick.  And im sure no one would think twice to give up 2 thirds for a Good Starting calibre Center.
