Jeff Davidson, can you please RETIRE the WildCat?

If only we had personnel as good as those who used it to run all over Atlanta a few years ago. You know, guys like DeShaun Foster as a secondary option, and stud blockers up front like Mike Wahle, Will Montgomery and Evan Mathis. At least we still have Williams to take the snaps, but without the rest of that talent it's amazing our OC can get any positive yardage out of it at all...

Running the wildcat is definitely a good idea for our offense right now. We have a completely inadequate quarterback, yet we have two of best RB's in the league. Why not direct snap to them and try to make something happen? Obviously it hasn't worked out for us so far, but with some more creativity I don't see any reason why we can't run it with success. Direct snap to D-Will, run outside, reverse to Smitty. That's money, right there.

If one of them could reliably throw a short pass to a TE or a lateral then our wildcat could be beastly.

Where do we get that?

We don't run the Wildcat.

We direct snap to DWill and he runs at the line.

The Wildcat is predicated on movement and misdirection. Watch the Dolphins. You have Ricky Williams crossing in front of Ronnie Brown. Ginn coming the other direction on a reverse. Brown possibly throwing the ball. The Wildcat is successful because the defense has no idea what is coming.

Ours, not so much.
