Welp, looks like they league is shutting down:

I did watch a fair amount.  It was fun in spurts.  They needed a lot of help with QB play and coaching.  I thought it had a lot of promise.  But making it work as a developmental league for the NFL was never going to work.  If a NFL team invests $100,000 in a rookie, to have him get hurt and ruin his career, would be enough to keep any team from allowing their rookies or practice squad guys a chance to play.

The story is that the Raleigh guy just wanted the gambling tech, and he's now ready to close the league.

It's really too bad.  I wish they could have had some of the developmental players play and get the experience and coaching they would need to improve the NFL.  Plus we could have had live football games for the Fall, Winter and Spring...alas.

Those close to the funding details are saying his investment was week to week and he only did it to get ownership of the patents and app for betting purposes. It's pretty bad that the AAF took that kind of deal in the first place. Week to week funding while giving up your main negotiating tool for future funding. Wow...

I think they were just desperate to make the league work.  The concept was good, but the talent was not.  The NFL retreads show why they aren't in the NFL.  The premise of the league was really good.  Just too bad that it's falling apart.  The NFL could really use a talent development league.

Not every sport can really have a self sustainable developmental league. Football is just too brutal and physically demanding. Can the guys who are playing now still be effective playing in the Fall? When will they rest their bodies? Realistically, how many of these guys can make it back in the NFL? 1%?

What happens when some of these guys start suing their league? We know it will happen !!! Some guy will say ... he got headaches from playing too much football ...

Yes, I will be watching because it's football. Hopefully it's worth watching.

You can only catch the highlight on youtube now.  The league is basically dead, all but closed.
