Roughing the passer

The league has no one to blame but itself for these types of calls.  When they clamped down on hits to the head and sneezing at the QB, they reportedly told officials to err on the side of making the call.  The fundamental tenet of officiating is to call what you see (not what you think you see), and this flew right in the face of that.  You can bet that direction was given to the officials that anyone missing these calls is not on board with the league’s stance (you aren't part of 'our team').

The referee is on a bad angle to see whether there was contact or not to Brady’s face.  Brady is between him and the non-event.  Right about the time the meat hook comes down near Brady’s face, Brady bobs his head, probably a reflexive move.  From behind, the referee sees the meat hook come down, see’s Brady’s head move at just the right time, does not see any contact (and probably couldn’t from his angle), but hears the voice in his head “thou shall call all hits to the QB’s head or else” and connects the dots.  Only these dots do not connect.

Thanks Rog, your constant messing with the game is the gift that keeps on giving.

On the bigger picture, yes, some QBs who will remain nameless get more of these calls than others.  Brady used to scream like a small child any time a pass rusher would touch him.  Made me wonder if they put him in a diaper rather than a red practice jersey when they worked out.

That's really really bad.  It clearly shows how biased the NFL is.  Plain and simple it's just alot harder for some teams to win a Super Bowl than others.  Actually it's just alot harder for some teams to win than others.

I hate Rog, but I'm not sure this is all his.  I don't know why the refs want to make babies with Brady.  They just do.

Call it rigging or just complete subconscious bias against Cam Newton but SB 50 was one of the biggest screw jobs in NFL history. And Saints act like they have something to bitch about.

I agree.  NFL has always had a refing problem.  They never have to explain themselves.  Its just ooops sorry.

That's a hard one to attribute to the love for Brady, though.  Per the Tuck Rule, the right call was ultimately made.  The rule was bizarre, but it was the rule and it was not new for that season.  In fact, it might be an example of a rule that existed to make it easier for the referee to determine (prior to instant replay) and then was applied and looked awkward awful using instant replay.

Brady becoming a protected species most likely happened after his 2008 knee injury.  It was after he came back that he started to act like a spoiled brat anytime a defender got within three feet of him or, heaven forbid, touched him.

If there was harmony in the universe, the Seahawks would have opted to run the ball on second and goal and Atlanta would have accepted the gift FG after the mega-completion with 4:00 left, and in all likelihood the Pats would be 0-4 in Super Bowls since Brady turned into a diva.  But alas, they have benefited from two teams out thinking themselves when the money was on the line.

Yeah, this one was a deal-sealer for me.  He, Brees, and a few others just get treated differently, and it's a joke.  100/100 times, Cam doesn't get that call.

I know right?  Fines after the fact don't to shiit.  NFL needs to remove their head from their ass and address the ref-ing problem.  I'm glad the stains are suing.  We all should.
