Do we need a CB?

I apparently am in the minority when I think that we need another taller rangy fast corner to cover the outside receivers in our division and Jackson needs to move into the nickel slot where he can keep up with fast running backs  and slot receivers and play well blitzing and tackling.  He needs to be closer to the line of scrimmage. I don't think Corn is physical enough and the Captain isn't fast enough to keep up anymore. Bring in a vet for the outside unless you can't find or afford one and can only find a slot guy, then.put Jackson outside. Otherwise find a vet or hope the answer is on the roster. I just think Jackson's value would be greatest in the slot. But what do I know, I am just a fan.

Wouldn't be opposed to Greedy but think there will be better options for us. More CB depth/talent would be nice to add but we have much more pressing needs and I'm confident in Donte and James as starters on the outside.

We could use competition at nickel and depth for the outsides. Corn is still a question mark and Capt is gone and/or declining.

Bradberry/Jackson give us great starting corners. A solid nickel and some depth will sheer the group up nicely.

Safeties on the other hand...

Yeah. Bradberry is in our future ... he won't command top 5 CB money because he doesn't get picks, but poo, he does everything else.

I think signing a prototypical outside corner like Norman and moving Jackson to cover these freak athletes that play in the slot these days is what we'll ultimately do. Michael Thomas works from the slot a ton, and so don't a lot of other top weapons in the league so if you think moving Jackson to nickel would be a waste of his potential that's nonsense. Jackson would have even more of an impact on the defense as the nickel.

Norman, Bradberry, Jackson will be our top 3 CB's in 2019

So we agree on this. Scary...,.....

$6.5M? LOL! If we could get Bradberry signed for $6.5M per year that would be the steal of the century. That would barely be a top 30 CB contract.

Bradberry is criminally underrated by this fanbase because he doesn't get INTs but if he did he'd probably he looking at being a top 5 paid CB on his next deal. Bradberry is a very solid cover corner who matches up really well with the best big WRs in the league, two of them just happen to also play in our division.

I don't think people look askance at Bradberry because of lack of INTs, it's the fact that he needs more consistency. The only thing that's going to get him paid like a top five CB, is to consistently play like a top five CB. You can't play lights out one game (or series) and give up big plays the next if you expect to get paid as a top corner. Sure, all corners get beat sometimes, but the best ones keep the chunk plays to a minimum (so much so, that it's almost surprising when they get beat big). Bradberry hasn't reached that elite level (not saying that he isn't necessarily a starting corner, but he's got to minimize the wtf plays).

To get paid like a top 5 CB, you have to play like a top 10-15 CB. Norwell is the current highest paid OG. Does anyone think that he's actually the #1 OG? Previous contract set the baseline for future contracts. A top 5 CB needing a new deal is going to be the new highest paid CB.
