Bleacher Report says what we all know. If we trade Kemba, we would be the worst team in the NBA.

1. Kemba Walker, Charlotte Hornets

Kemba Walker is the Charlotte Hornets. He's the franchise's career leader in a number of categories—including threes, free throws and points—its only All-Star since 2010 and maybe the only good thing going in Buzz City.

It shouldn't have to be this way. Walker's team-friendly salary is among the best non-rookie deals in basketball. He's making $12 million this season; that's the sixth-highest rate just on this team. But despite having such a great bargain, Charlotte has splurged in all the wrong places: five years, $120 million for Nicolas Batum; four years, $52 million for Michael Kidd-Gilchrist; four years, $56 million for Cody Zeller.

There are five non-Kemba eight-figure salaries on the payroll. The only one belonging to a double-digit scorer is the $14 million for Marvin Williams, who's fourth on the team with an even 10 points per night. Jeremy Lamb, a lottery-disappointment-turned-adequate-role player, is the second scorer. Malik Monk, a supposed shooter with a career 37.5/33.8/89.0 slash line, is No. 3.

"[Walker] needs more help, and it's been that way for seven years," Scott Fowler wrote for the Charlotte Observer. "In terms of surrounding talent, the Hornets have failed Kemba, over and over."

Those failures may prove costly this summer, when Walker becomes one of the most coveted players in unrestricted free agency. While he has said he'd like to stay and Charlotte has made it clear it'd be glad to keep him, this roster mismanagement and egregious lack of support are the reasons his future isn't guaranteed with the franchise.

There are no All-Star sidekicks or even prospects with that kind of potential. The offense lives and dies with Walker, and the defense is nothing special. It makes this whole relationship look one-sided, with Walker giving the Hornets everything and them failing to deliver anything of substance.

Yeah, so I would trade the whole fuging team for Anthony Davis, or Bradley Beal at this point. This team is so poo other than Kemba. Easily the worst team in the NBA if he's traded.

that's a big no poo captain obvious. But I would be in favor of trading him and completely starting another rebuild and just pray we get it right this time. We may not have a dumbass drafting 7 ft white boys anymore

I know it's a no poo Captain Obvious for some. But, there are some posters on here that are against tanking. Their reasoning is beyond trash too, to make it worse.

What are the luxury tax rules? Like how expensive is it to be over and go over it? If I was MJ, I'd rescue this team by paying Kemba whatever to keep him long term, then dump everyone else and pay out the ass for another all-star who can play with Kemba. Take the tax hit and say fug'em. Fill the rest of the team with rookie and role players and ween ourselves back under the cap. We'd get right in a couple of years.

I think Indiana will drop but not all the way down to our range.

agree - but not if we make a move for Drummond/Gasol/etc.

I am in the state of mind that Kemba has given the team an ultimatum for help or he is gone in the offseason.. and i believe Mitch will do whatever it takes to get him some help in the next 2 weeks ..

Even if the lottery gods suddenly went in our favor and this front office was capable enough to pull off what would be a longterm rebuild, the team would not last long in Charlotte tanking for multiple years. Our reputation would actually be worse than the Bobcats because we sent the best player we ever had packing. No one will want to play here, no one will go to the games, and they'd have 4-5 years max to put together a contender through the draft before it makes more sense to move to a bigger market. Kemba is the only thing holding the franchise together.

Well you have to take risks to be successful. You can just skate by and make ends meet. However, people are getting bored of the team lately. People I know who usually talk about the team do not care enough to mention them anymore. It is what it is, but this organization is slowly losing interest outside of Charlotte, which it needs.

That's the problem with your logic. We were bad for over 4-5 years in the tanking process. While it didn't work because the dip poo we had picked MKG over Bradley Beal, it still should be what we should be doing. The team is the worst in the NBA without Kemba. We would literally be right there with the Cavs, if we got rid of him, and therefore we would get either Zion, Barrett, Nasir Little, or Cam Reddish, or Murray. Which at this point, is better than sitting on our asses hoping some dumb ass team takes Batum, Marvin, or Biyombo's awful contracts. Complacency is the worst thing a franchise can do.

Lastly, getting rid of Kemba would not make any player not want to come here. Kemba was average as Hell and we offered Gordon Hayward the max, and he accepted it. So, I don't hear that excuse

    • He made some excellent throws but he always has made some excellent throws here and there. I don't know what to think, which is what I was apprehensive about. Is he going to have a decent downfield game? Because okay Legette dropped one, but someone was giving stats prior to the bye or during it where he had two downfield completions and one of them was the jump ball that is just launched and fingers are crossed that our guy comes down with it, and yesterday we saw that again. The Russell Wilson school of downfield passing.  I don't feel like that is sustainable, but at the same time you have to do Something to make the defense understand they have to defend that downfield throws. Like i said, confused.  I guess I'm going to review the game for myself and look closely at his mechanics and stuff because if he actually fixed that stuff it explains the better throws. And that has been my biggest objection, or what I see as the thing that makes or breaks his chances, that unorthodox dropback and tippy toe action and not having his feet set which limits velocity etc etc.
    • The negative Nancy in me (or objective?) says that they had a bye week to prepare for the Chiefs. However, it’s one thing to have a good plan and it’s another to actually execute it. For all the flack he’s received (from me as well), Bryce seemingly has put his head down and worked his tail off and his play is giving me hope. The first 18-game Bryce showed no progression whatsoever. He gets benched, comes back, and has shown steady progress every week he has started. I think I’m starting to see what the Bryce lovers and unconditional defenders were saying all along, and I hope he can show that on a regular basis for the sake of our QB1 position.
    • Yeah, we could still very well end up 4-13 with the 2nd pick.   I think LVR has the inside track for 1, with only a JAX team as a team on docket that could be beatable.
