Panthers hire Hostler as WR coach

The Panthers have hired Jim Hostler as their new wide receivers coach. He replaces Lance Taylor. Hostler spent this past season with the Green Bay Packers as their offense/pass game coordinator, but has spent most of his career working with receivers. He and Carolina offensive coordinator Norv Turner were with the 49ers together in 2006. in the team release, Hostler mentioned 2018 first-round pick DJ Moore, 2017 second-round pick Curtis Samuel and veteran Torrey Smith. There was no mention of wide receiver Devin Funchess, another indication the Panthers appear set on moving on from the former Michigan star.

He's bounced around the league quite a bit the last six years.

Overall seems like another generic "won't threaten my job or rock the boat" Rivera assistant hire unfortunately.

I think he's worth cutting for 5 million extra dollars in cap room. If he wants to come back on a 1 year 1.5-2 million dollar deal I think we should work it out, he is solid depth.

Brad Hoover took Torrey Smith and D White hog hunting last Friday and Saturday to one of my friends hunting clubs in SC,  He said they all are great men with hilarious personalities and they loved it here.

I was expecting Torrey not to make it to next year's roster.

The fact that we just hired a guy who used to coach him now makes me wonder.

No poo. That's my point. Why care if the guy is white or not. I could care less if he's blue or purple. If he can't coach he can't coach. Ethnicity doesn't have a damn thing to do about it.
