Yep I don’t know why he does that— everyone GM seems to want to get cute and go make a star out of someone everyone else saw as nothing— the problem is they usually are nothing ha.

Dave and Hurney both really,.. Dave Skipped on Smith Schuster for that scrub we have playing for us now,... Hurney skipped on Keenan Allen even after he dropped 2 rounds,..

I was actually wondering what you meant by Allen. We didn’t have a 3rd in 2013 (Gettleman’s draft). We would have had to pick Allen with Short’s pick but you are right to blame Hurney. We got Frank Alexander or Joe Adams (we had back to back picks with the trade) and traded away the pick that was two spots ahead of where Keenan Allen went. Throw in the fact that Everette Brown cost us Dez Bryant or Demaryius Thomas (we used three picks on WRs that draft), Hurney really was the worst at WRs. Cam could have been tossing the ball to Demaryius Thomas and Keenan Allen in the 2013 through 2017 playoffs. SMH. We wouldn’t have needed to take Benjamin or Funchess. HFS, what a different team we’d be. All for terrible draft day trades.

Also, just to note in case it comes up. Thomas did very little his rookie year and with Clausen it would have been worse so we’d still have had the #1 pick. 

That’s what I mean, trade picks for duds but not jump in for Keenan Allen?. The dude was a top 10 pick without the injury question and a 3rd round pick for him was a no brainer. It’s all water under the bridge now— 

Benjamin I didn’t think was a bad choice for a pick at 28th, I liked the guy and I own that— he was a stud the first season.

Some players like Gaulden I understand even less— 

in late rounds John Madden and others used to say it was tough to figure who would work or not— so you choose athletic ability over football skills.

can teach an athlete football but not teach a football player to be an athlete. So why pick some low athletic ability? They peaked already, can’t get better.

The Gaulden pick was a head scratcher as you said. Either go with pure athletic ability and hope you can teach them or go with the guy who was considered the top safety in the draft/late 1st before concerns about athletic ability come up. Don’t pick a guy who isn’t the top safety and isn’t a top athlete.

I truly think that pick would have been Terron Armstead if we had it. I know we had him in for workout.

I agree.  Carter played inside (at 230 lbs) at MD, and needed a year to learn OLB.  Ran under 4.7 at combine---just needs to get quicker (reading defenses from OLB) and play to speed.  He was a 2-year Capt.  so he is a leader.  If he puts it together, he can be a decent player.  With RR and Luke,  he should be OK--will not be a three down player either, and that helps him.

I want him to pan out and have a great season but we need a legit safety and nickelback so we don't have to rely on a linebacker to cover TEs and slot receivers. It never worked out very well for Shaq and he was getting burnt constantly.

Wait wait wait.. If you can get 3 starters out of a draft it's a good draft.. If he get anything else out of this draft it becomes a great one.. 

Most drafts are 2 or 3 players worth a dam and the rest meh...

It still has a chance to be amazing if you get any thing out of the 1 of the 2 LB and either Hayes or Gauldin.. It might already be amazing if you have a number 1 wr CB and TE.. Saints got the amazing tag for Getting Kamara and Lattimore..

IMO  Moore, Thomas and Jackson have top level talents and traits..

Moore can be a elite WR

Jackson speed and intensity could make him a top level CB

Thomas is getting compare to Gates with his size and speed..

Who said we needed to be saved by a 5th or 7th round pick? The title of the thread is talking about him getting a opportunity not him being the next Ray Lewis or we needing him to be..
