Sure Allen's performance was against a team that was resting starters and had nothing to gain but the fact he looked so good was actually not great for Cam. It suggested that we might not need Superman to run this quarterback friendly offense and could be productive with someone else. Prior to this Cam had to carry the offense but with increased offensive talent and fixing the O line, other guys could be successful in this system. Even a potential rookie.

Just saying.....

Oh if we go into next year with Allen and Heineken as starters, FFS we're getting that #1 pick to take the guy from Oregon then.

oh no I don't care if Cam leaves lmfao but you think they are thinking about cutting him? Like you think he's gonna get cut this offseason

If we decide we have to move on then I would try and trade him first. If no one was interested I would try and restructure his 23 million cap hit and hope he recovers for 2020. I would think releasing him would be the last option especially if I thought he could play down the road

...it will be on if we draft a qb rd1 or 2...

That is actually the thing we should do. Rookie contracts are cheap and if Cam recovers we don't have to start the rookie. Let him sit and learn. If he excels we can make him the eventually starter if we move on from Cam or trade him down the road. It is much cheaper to bring in a QB on a rookie deal and develop him as your back up versus bringing in a guy like Bridgewater or Fitzgerald who will want 15 -20 mil to sit the bench.

I imagine that it has been discussed although I doubt it is the first choice. The choice of words suggesting we need cap space at least indicates cuts will  be made. Would it cause an uproar if we signed Foles as his replacement? Mere speculation at this point

No way in hell this "has been discussed".  We may have bad decision-making often by our front office, but they aren't that clueless.

I don't think we should cut Cam.

I don't think anybody in the organization has seriously considered it.

I think, at most, there have been talks of not re-signing him at the end of his current deal or POSSIBLY reworking his current deal to put him in a role that isn't QB IF his shoulder never returns.

By no means do I want us to lose Cam. However, you're foolish to disregard the fact that his shoulder may never recover considering the STEEP drop off in his throwing ability after the Steelers game. He needs to get 100% better and if his shoulder can't return, we have a big problem on our hands with cap space, the need for a reliable downfield passing game and no real long-term solution currently on the roster that anybody should be comfortable with.

I'm reserving panic for August. We'll know for sure by then where Cam's shoulder is and what direction we need to take. Everything right now is speculation.
