2010 Starting QB

Assuming Fox does get the boot and they let Jake go, who are some decent candidates for QB next year? Moore is a free agent and if we have a new coach that means new system so Moore isn't a shoe in. I think J Campbell, C Pennington, T Jackson and K Orton are the top names but I'm sure the Broncos will lock Orton up if things continue the way they are. Ideas?

We really need to find a way to get back into the first round to draft one of the top quarterbacks. We don't need to settle for one of these scrub free agent quarterbacks and we don't need to settle for a second-round pick. I want a first-round franchise quarterback dammit.

Pardon my ignorance here. We dont have a first rounder this year?

Take Orton off the table. He'll be a Bronco for a long time. Penny is done starting, so remove him. I'd love to give Jackson a try but I'm worried he'd be of the "million dollar arm, ten cent head" category. Campbell is just bipolar. WCO doesn't suit him, he's unhappy and his team hasn't had his back for a while, but it's not like he's pulling the Skins up at all.

We're in a bad spot and it wouldn't surprise me if McCown or Feeley is our starter next year while we bring along a draft pick.

    • Yeah, I am not 100% against trading down but it needs to be at the right price. Also, because this appears to be a draft lacking in a lot of elite prospects, trading down could potentially backfire(as it always can, I suppose) or net a lower yield than typical. I just don't want to be fumbling around and reaching, which in the Tepper era has been a CONSTANT problem. The organizational impatience(and incompetence) been murderous.
    • Yeah I said that earlier all or most of these guys are broadcasting or doing the little Huddle show and stuff like that, they are affiliated this season.  I think Cam went in using the ESPN tack because it stuck it to Tepper and didn't criticize a player and that worked for him. Plus he ended up working for ESPN.....
    • Sports are a different animal. It's gladiator poo. You wouldn't go out and put the uniform on of the best burger maker in your neighborhood either. So, when we watch these athletes being amazing and giving their all, it is for more than just a check. The guys that are truly driven and love these games, they are doing it for many more reasons than the money. Boiling it down to a simple transactional thing is simplistic, at best. So, yeah, I can understand how Cam can feel jilted when other great Panthers are trotted out and honored by the organization and he isn't. Especially considering he is overwhelmingly the best QB to have ever played for us and literally put this franchise into the national spotlight because of the player he was, the things he accomplished and the personality that he is. So....yeah, I would be upset about that too if I were in his shoes. The money, that the business side. That other poo, that's personal.
