2010 Starting QB

Are you kidding me?

Sometimes it's better to have less than Moore.

I can't tell if your being serious or not. It would be a saving grace for this team if Matt Moore came and played lights out and earned the starting spot. It would keep us from having to deal too much on draft day and gambling on a QB to pan out.

looks like Bradford may fall into second round. The gamble on him could pay off big time.

Too many QB's for them not to draft one or make a trade into the First to get one of the first 2 or 3 taken.

San Francisco will have 2 excellent picks, so maybe up for a trade.

We may have traded someone like Colt McCoy for Everette Brown and Goodsen

Orton was rolling last year before he got hurt, and he is rolling this year. I definitely believe that he is undervalued. But, people, there is no way that Orton is not locked up in Denver (unless he has a meltdown, and then we wouldn't want him anyway), so we may as well just let that pipe dream RIP.

As for Moore, people need to wake up. Moore has had opportunities to come in and take the horse by the reins, but he has never been able to get the job done. The ONLY way that I'd even consider Moore is if he replaces Jake this season and turns the season around with his stellar play. The Double M is not a Tom Brady, or Even Kyle Orton. Hell, you have never seen him come in and threaten to take the game over like Alex Smith did yesterday, or Jake did back in the day when he seized the starting job from Rodney Peete. Moore is a second string QB (and maybe third), and in light of what we have seen over the years, I would think that fans would be ready for a consistent top 10 QB (at the very least). The Panthers are ready for a franchise QB. The fans deserve it. Moore, Feely, McCown, T-Jax, and all the other vets you can think of are NOT that guy. People scoffed when I brought up Flacco (among others, and if the Huddle hadn't been hacked, then purged, I'd prove it). We could have made that happen. Anyway, we need a pure passer who is accurate with a cannon (like, who doesn't?). The days of half steppin' at the most important position on the team should be done. We DESERVE a franchise QB. And we don't need to be looking through other teams' trash (or even our own), looking for guys that are perennial projects.

Assuming Fox does get the boot and they let Jake go, who are some decent candidates for QB next year? Moore is a free agent and if we have a new coach that means new system so Moore isn't a shoe in. I think J Campbell, C Pennington, T Jackson and K Orton are the top names but I'm sure the Broncos will lock Orton up if things continue the way they are. Ideas?

Riley Skinner. He is exactly what this team needs at the position

Troy Smith

I know he's kinda small but he would have started last year over Flacco had he not been hurt, and the ability is there. I was really hoping we'd draft him when he came out of OSU but he has potential. Only bad thing is that he's an RFA but it'd be worth giving up the pick for if the Ravens want to keep him.

Wonder if he'll be available in the sixth round... at the rate we're giving up draft picks that's about right don't you think?

A couple of things to consider.

1) If there is no cap in 2010 then a player must have 6 years to become a UFA and 5 years to become a RFA. I would guess that only 10 to 20% of the players scheduled to become UFA will actually be able to if there is no cap. So unless Campbell or Jackson or Clemmons or whoever is cut, they probably will not be available and teams will hold onto to them trying to get drafts picks for them from desperate teams.

2) If you look at all the different draft sites and reports from scouts this college season, the QB position is as up in the air as I have ever seen it. Example: Draft Tek has McCoy as the best QB and going first in the draft while Walter Football doesn't even have McCoy going in the first three rounds. Both sites are respectable and it shows how varied the opinions are on the QBs. I read a story a month ago, when Bradford was still the best player in the draft, and it quoted three pro scouts all agreeing that Bradford was horrible and not even on any of their draft boards.

In other words, it is just way too early to gauge where any of these QBs are going to land in the draft and considering the deapth along with the varying views, we may not know anything until April.
