It's not really hindsight.

If you went back and looked at the discussion that occurred around the time he was cut, the vast majority of us were going "WTF?"

AFTER he was cut a bunch of folks who cant get jobs as assistant coaches at JUCOs questioned or even decried the decision?

Folks that have no intimate knowledge of the inner workings of not only CJs designated role but also his "fit" in both scheme and culture.

Come on...

To assume you know enough about all of the factors that led to his release is folly.  I get thinking its a bad thing or even saying in retrospect it was the wrong call, but for all you KNOW he threatened to kill Cam's kid.

I'm not sure having CJ would have made a difference in winning more games.  It MAYBE could've given CMC fresher legs, but I don't remember any signs of CMC slowing down or not being fresh.  I get it, you don't want to run one of your stars into the ground, but to act like CJ would've made a real difference in the outcome of our season is pretty wishful thinking

I don't actually give a sh-t what was behind the idea. It was a dumbass decision.

We let go I have a really good running back and decreased our roster depth in doing so.

There is no possible rationale you can come up with that makes that a good choice.

Wrong again.

When we signed him, everybody was ecstatic.

When he got in Rivera's doghouse, most of us thought it was stupid.

When the news came out that he was cut, the majority of us were going "WTF?"

This is not some brand new revelation.

Yeah it was a good signing. But then he came to camp out of shape and blew the Atlanta game so yeah he had every reason to be in the dog house.  Looked solid running the ball when he had the chance but McCaffrey looked great and showed he was a 3 down back. Anderson was signed until the end of the year and when we cut him it made a ton of sense. Just like it made a ton of sense to bench Funchess and give Samuel and DJ more of a look even though most of you are acting like Funchess started until the end of the season which I don’t get. We gave him like one more chance after the Detroit game where he was brutal and then we benched him like we should have. Where we were in the season why play guys who won’t be back the following year?

You really think if we didn’t cut Anderson he would have resigned with us anyways? And you really wanted Anderson taking time away from McCaffrey? You clearly mad with how the season went just like I am but I don’t even get the point you’re trying to make.

Anderson isn’t the first random running back to look good for a short span of games. Cutting him was not why our season didn’t go the way we wanted

Watch how the Rams have used him tonight. That'll tell you.

Having a power back available in the red zone gives you a lot of options.

Understand this, I feel like Im calling out a Titan these last couple of weeks when you and I have exchanged opinions.

You are a far more knowledgeable football guy than I am.

I just refuse to believe that we know everything that went into the decision.

I don't think our team would have been better with CJ cutting into McCaffrey's playing time. And even though McCaffrey played such a high percentage of our plays, he only had 219 rushes, good for t-10th in the league (and 111 less than league leader Ezekial Elliot).

It honestly doesn't bother me one bit that we cut him. Better than him being disgruntled on the bench. But good for him making a difference on a playoff team.

Yeah, we'd still be looking at a 7-9 record.

He didn't come to camp out of shape.

If you think cutting him for making a mistake in the Atlanta game was a good idea, then I'm going to assume you're prepared to cut Cam Newton for the mistakes he made this year, right? Ditto DJ Moore, Donte Jackson, Christian McCaffrey and various others who had major mistakes and games this year.

and boy, the Rams sure look stupid for letting Anderson take carries away from Gurley tonight, don't they?

Yeah, having two great players is never as good as having only one...

What a simple-minded argument...

The question is simple: would CJ Anderson have helped us win more games this year? It’s funny cause I could’ve sworn 99% of our complaints during the season were about our defense, our injured quarterback, or our offensive line (honorable mention: Devin Funchess). Can’t recall anyone criticizing our run game as a contributor to our losing streak...and to do so now would be revisionist history.

But hey, two great players are better than one! Even if they’re gonna be riding the bench 90% of the time...hey look, you just made a case for every luxury pick we made in the draft in the past several years. Vernon Butler and Shaq Thompson must have still been great picks in your mind.
