How do you credit Hurney for a season where he didn't take over until all the heavy lifting was already done?

Add in that Olsen and Davis were already on the roster. Their getting extensions doesn't affect a season for which they were already signed.

Not to mention the humongous FACT.. Gman got the benefit of having A Franchise QB (he didn't draft) Dpoy (he didn't draft) and 8 other pro bowl players (he didn't draft)..

  Not many GMs are skilled enough to build a horrible enough team to get the #1 overall pick. That is impressive. Then still lose with them. Then and now.

I love the notion that any mistake Hurney makes is somehow invalidated by pointing back to a GM who was actually far more successful than he was. It's one of the dumbest things I've ever seen

Heres the simple reality...

Gettleman was a better GM than Marty Hurney. Looking at their respective success rates tells you that. Frankly, it's not even close.

Gettleman was fired by an owner who was a dumbass. He's not coming back. Discussing him at this point is barely even relevant.

Marty Hurney is relevant because, unfortunately, he's the current GM. That's amazing given that he was such a disaster in the past, but again, dumbass owner.

Our best hope now is to get a new GM, one with an actual football background. It's not going to be Dave Gettleman, but it could be somebody like Joe Douglas, Ryan Cowden or Lake Dawson.

Here's hoping...

  Sad thing is, in between all your alts, almost everyone has accepted it. It’s long been debated and it was DGs team. What did Hurney do? Cut the wrong PK?

Yep. He gave Olsen a 12M signing bonus we still have to account for most it. That was real nice. Go back to Madden. The real world is eating you alive.
