Two other teams that could not offer him the reps he wanted also released him after the Panthers. The Rams are the only ones that could give him what he wanted, so it's worked out.

Other teams being stupid doesn't really make us being stupid any better.

If we're looking to justify our coach's actions by saying "you know that team that traded away Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper did the same thing", I'd have to say that might be just a little bit of a stretch.

Nothing makes how Carolina managed this acceptable. It’s either a front-end or back-end botch, but make no mistake....it was a mistake.

Don't interrupt the Hurney-Rivera Hatefest going on with sensitivity. There is no place for sensitivity or empathy in the NFL, or the Huddle. It's not like a team member or a forum member can become a bigger problem than their worth, and we all know that the NFL and Huddle are bereft of any type of class and decorum.

/end sarcastic irony

You mean like Steve Smith did?

I didn't realize you supported that move.

Gettleman said in so many words that Smith was let go because of his age and diminished ability. I'm too lazy and apathetic to look up the exact quotes, but Gettleman basically said that some old warriors don't know when to hang it up. He "hung it up" for Smith in as unprofessional and classless o' manner that I've seen for a person of 89's stature. I'm sure that his lack of professionalism and empathy made you smile.

Sensitivity should never be a guiding principle when managing an NFL roster.

It's not a "guiding" principle.

Teams let vets, particularly those who are basically on a one-year rental---those who aren't necessarily being used---go on their way to find greener pastures every once in awhile. This isn't a new precedent.
