If Cam doesn’t get surgery what’s gonna stop his shoulder from giving out next season?

His shoulder was definitely jacked.  So was his psychology.  I'm worried that the way Cam plays his only going to lend itself to more hits on that shoulder.  That's what worries me about Cam.  I'm not sure if he can handle one more big shot on that shoulder.  The NFL is sort of like boxing in this way....if there's an injury or weakness...teams are going to attack it.  Some team will be willing to take a 15 yard penalty early in the game to land their shot....happens every year in multiple games.

People on this board think I hate Cam....which just isn't true.  Sometimes being realistic towards a player who's a legend is going to to get you a lot of poo reactions.

I hope he comes back healthy and playing a like a new man and forces us to resign him....I just have a feeling it won't end that way.

I love boxing so I enjoyed your analogy. I didn’t mean to offend if you though I was referring to you. cam is not perfect, nor is any qb, he does have flaws and make mistakes, I just think some go out of their way to find stuff to tear down, without looking at facts or anything. They just see the low lights on highlights and trash him without considering; OL, injuries, and sometimes (all of last year) WRs. When cam is healthy, he is great, but the main thing is getting him healthy. He is a tough dude mentally and physically and I believe he can get healthy.

I get what you are saying about him being a little gunshy, but I do not think he will be. I mean, he’s played with a broken back and numerous other injuries and stayed in the pocket and took big hits while still playing well. He will always get cheap shorted and take big hits bc the Broncos showed you can get away with it. But I have never seen him be sort of timid bc of it. Maybe his throwing motion will be a little out of sync at first, simply bc he’s afraid his shoulder will get hurt again, but that can be fixed. All in all, his health is important and we need him 100% to get back to dominance.

Solid points. I do think his shoulder clearly bothered him. The home NO game comes to mind. He couldn’t throw the ball 15 yards halfway through the second quarter. If ppl don’t think his shoulder was jacked that’s on them.

I was sitting in the stands knowing we didn't have time to go down the field at the end because Cam just couldn't toss the ball further than 5-10 yards. Even a casual fan could easily see that. It was almost sad at the end.

The pick 6 and hit by Watt in the Steeler's game was the end of our season.

Honestly the end of the season was when Ron and Hurney knew about that shoulder, and yes they did know, and didn’t bother to either trade for a backup or draft a qb to be a backup

thats the truth of the matter.

We can go into the offensive line and all of that but they did nothing to secure a decent backup knowing their qb1 had shoulder surgery

and even better, knowing the shot Newton on that shoulder in the Steelers game, they left him in after it and even being blown out, left him in

i swear to god. Had I been tepper, they would have been fired that night for stupidity

I think we are screwed. He probably goes to training cam looking great, starts the season looking good, then takes a hit in the shoulder and then it’s season over again.

then the staff gets fired for not making s player protect from themselves— making him go get it taken care of and taking a conservative approach to his recovery

How would anyone posting in this thread know if Cam requires surgery this off season or not?

That is, unless you are Cam or his doctor.

Resting his shoulder may be the recommended/best/only course of action.

We know that everyone involved is highly incentivized  to make sure he comes back 100% healthy. He will have access to the best doctors and treatments. With a cap hit of 23 million in 2019 we have to know his condition as soon as possible so we know what options we have.
