Thomas Davis - gone

Julius Peppers - likely gone

Eric Reid - going to try and make himself pricey. Is he worth the big bucks? No, if you think we're rebuilding. Yes, if we're in a "win now" mentality

Daryl Williams - again, going to make himself overpriced. Do we overpay Reid and Williams because we're needy at their positions?

Chris Clark - likely gone

Devin Funchess - going to make himself way overpriced. Funfun is okay but not a top dollar target.

Wes Horton - still seems like a project.

Colin Jones - long may he reign for cheap and on special teams

Kyle Love - as long as he's affordable and we don't shoot ourselves in the foot giving him a huge contract.

CAP - bye buddy. Loved you at Auburn but I think this is as far as you go.

Kenjon Barner - likely stays for cheap and continues to work on special teams

Travaris Cadet - bye

Ben Jacobs - stays for cheap

David Mayo - stays for cheap

Marshall Newhouse - depth if really cheap

Amini Silatolu - dear God leave

Fozzy Whittaker - I'm indifferent

Chandler Catanzaro - bye

I think we keep all four of Byrd, Heinicke, Manhertz, and Norris (the Restricted Free Agents)

Of the ERFA I would keep Bryan Cox Jr., Efe Obada, and maybe Damian Parms for depth

We're losing a lot of guys and I'm thinking we'll see a lot of new faces. The future doesn't look bright. Just hope we don't give big long contracts to players who aren't producing accordingly.

Who do you think we target?

Reid and Williams--let them shop around---if someone overpays, bye.

Both have big reasons NOT to pay them elite money.

Moton can play RT-- there is no indication that he can play LT except for a few of you proclaiming so because he had some good looks there in preseason and vs. Dallas.

However, these coaches see these players play every day, so I think Moton is either a RT or G here.  Sure, he could play LT in a pinch, and they even tinkered with him at C, but having Moton gives us leverage.

Reid?   He is a SS.  They are not that hard to find.   How much do you pay for him?  (I realize he was FS this season--necessity.

I have a problem with these vets wanting to come back as a reserve or in a limited role---if we had coaches that develop players, these old guys would be taking opportunity from our developmental players.  It also hurts special teams.  And they want more than vet minimum.

Davis is a leader, so I would be more inclined to bring him back than Peppers--I know, that sounds crazy, but developing young DEs is something we need to do instead of whipping the old horses to death.

Clark should stay for cheap as depth, no reason not to, he has experience. Why Barner still has a job in the NFL, i don't know. He's butt buddies with Marty. Again, Marty is the issue here. The problem is we can't replace these guys with people in free agency b/c they'll want more.

Catanzaro is much better than Gano. Get Gano out, keep Catanzaro, don't let Hurney pay $10 million for a kicker. He's overpaid Gano and Mare in the past. fug that.

Gano just got a new deal. Unlikely he is going anywhere.

I want us to re-sign Reid, Williams and Love on an a reasonable contract for depth. I'm over Jacobs for penalty reasons, but would keep Mayo. I'm over Heinecke and think we either find a QB2 in FA or roll with Allen....Allen showed me more than Heinecke in the limited snaps.  Everyone else in that lower list of RFAs can stay. Everyone else can go.

We need to make a big splash at DE in FA.... Flowers or Clark for me. I think Clowney costs too much, though I wouldn't be opposed to him in Carolina. We need to improve this area. Keeping Reid and adding someone like Deionte Thompson in the draft would give us our best safety duo...possibly ever.

Come back and draft a DE in R2 and a LB and C in round 3 with the Norwell comp pick.

I really want some top tier OL talent to protect Cam for once

Like @MHS831 stated, allow Reid and DWill to test the market and see if the value is there in matching. As he said, both have plenty of reasons for teams to not break the bank for them which could work in the Panthers' favour.

I disagree a little bit though on retaining veteran leadership. If TD and Peppers can be retained for team-friendly deals, they still can contribute at a high level (more significant and often than a depth signing based on youth). Having these guys being able to mentor the younger players on the playbook and being a professional, especially with their resumes, will also help with keeping the locker room focused. Kyle Love is another player that fits this mold and maybe Colin Jones as well (in regards to special teams). Mike Adams, while he has been able to contribute, is one stubbed toe away from being burnt by a blocking TE running a deep route. Hard, but polite pass on him.

Elijah Hood and Dorian Johnson could be camp bodies at the least. There are a group of guys where we either have to move on or commit to them as depth: Damien Parms, Damiere Byrd, Efe Obada, Bryan Cox Jr, Jared Norris, Wes Horton, Ben Jacobs, Cameron Artis-Payne, Fozzy Whittaker, David Mayo, and Chris Manhertz. There are others that we can likely expect to not be back such as Gilbert, Heinicke, Barner, Cadet, Silatolu, Clark, Newhouse, Jamaal Jones, and Funchess.

Finally, of the remaining Panthers FAs, Chandler Catanzaro could be worth bringing back as competition for camp.

Now on to potential FAs to bring in...

DE: Frank Clark, Aaron Lynch, Trey Flowers, Dante Fowler Jr, Mario Edwards
I'm the lowest on Edwards, as I would rather see Cox Jr or Obada retained and developed and a high draft pick spent on the position. Fowler Jr I can see pricing himself out of our interest, and Clark I'm having difficulty seeing sign elsewhere. Aaron Lynch and Trey Flowers though could be super solid pick ups though to help give the position some fresh but still experienced legs.

S: At this point, I'm looking to retain Eric Reid because I'm not excited about what else is out there. Guys like Landon Collins, HaHa Clinton-Dix, Tyrann Mathieu, and Earl Thomas I see being way too expensive for our tastes. So that leaves Gaulden with Parms, Reid, Adams, and Jones to retain from. I'm also looking to see a early-to-mid round pick invested here.

CB: Looot of free agent options coming up it looks, but I'm feeling good with Bradberry/Jackson on the outside. The nickel, however, I'm concerned about. Munnerlyn has given us his best years, Cockrell might be veteran depth, and then there is Cole Luke, Corn Elder, and Lorenzo Doss. I'm okay with Bradberry, Jackson, Doss, Luke, Elder, Cockrell but also won't look away from an opportunity to get better. Bene Benwikere could be an option, especially if Wilks is brought back in any capacity. I mean... I'd take it.

OL: Ja'Wuan James is an option should Daryl Williams not be retained and Moton be kicked over to LT or LG. The more that I look at the free agent guards, the less concerned I am about having to address LG in the draft. Center, on the other hand, does not have much and might require a significant draft pick invested.

QB2: If we don't invest a pick or retain Kyle Allen, two names I could potentially see are Ryan Fitzpatrick (aka "We are gambling on Cam's shoulder and if it needs a year, then we are playing Fitzzian Roulette" which would probably cause so many heart attacks over the course of the season) or the return of the Joe Webb.

RB: A powerback to compliment McCaffrey will likely be a target, as well as a similar swiss-army knife type player. Fozzy Whittaker could potentially be retained unless the Panthers want to see more of Kenjon Barner or see what Ameer Abdullah can do. Ty Montgomery would be an interesting budget-McCaffrey/Samuel as well, should the team think that Samuel could pick up where McCaffrey leaves off should the latter go down to injury. Alfred Morris and Doug Martin could be looked at as the aforementioned complimentary sledgehammer.

WR: I'm all in on DJ Moore, Curtis Samuel, and Jairus Wright. Go sign whomever in free agency and maybe retain Damiere Byrd after we cut Torrey Smith.

TE: A surprisingly deep group this coming free agency. Not many world beaters, but at the very least there are guys like Geoff Swaim, Jesse James, CJ Uzomah, Clive Walford, Maxx Williams, Luke Stocker, Lance Kendricks, and Tyler Kroft. Maybe Eifert if nobody wants to risk his injury concerns but the Panthers take him to replace Olsen should Greg opt for that analyst life.

Hahahah what?  Yes they are hard to find.  You realize this position has cost us countless games the past few years with Roman Harper, Coleman (aside from his one fluke year), and Mike Adams.  We badly need a good safety, and yes, they are hard to find

Moron was at LT before Williams got hurt so stop spreading fake news.
