Kasay's rare off day hurts Panthers

John is not really the cause for this lose. Kasey had one bad game. Kasey hardly has any bad games. Between Davidson, Fox and Jake and the biggest to blame with 2 ints that was turned into points. And you can not blame the oline for this Game. The oline gave Jake more then enough time in this Game. And the D played good. so the blame lays souly on the Top 3 guys. davidson , john, and Jake..

As much as I hate to say it this is true. Had he made those 2 field goals, this game would have been played differently after halftime. We would have palyed with a lead which means more running and less lobs by Jake. Had we relied on our running game more, with the way they were moving the chains, we would have had a much better shot at coming out on top.

A win would have done nothing but mask the deficiencies and earned us another week of Jake as the definite starter.

Well put.

His missed FGs completely changed our playcalling.

Although, a better way to say it would be that our SPECIAL TEAMS cost us this game. Not just Kasay. That fumbled punt return was a doozy. I don't know what's more amazing... ...That Fox still has a job or Crossman?

I agree that the missed field goals were a big problem. Hard to say how they would have effected the game had we made even one of them.

But the fact of it is we shouldn't have been in the situation where those fg's made a difference. We dominated the first half, but an horribly thrown int and the complete inability to throw the ball more than 10 years kept us out of the end zone. Buffalo eventually stacked 8 in the box, and we couldn't pass enough to do anything about it. Bad field position didn't help either.

Regardless of how consistent Kasay has been historically, he needs to consider retirement. Why do we invest in a kickoff specialist, but to merely mask the fact that he is not as viable as he was in the past. I also will never forget his assistance in losing the '03 Superbowl. Perhaps there is another thread altogether, but I would make the following terminations at the end of the season since no personnel modifications will occur during.

Marty Hurney

John Fox

Jeff Davidson - Cleveland Browns - enough said...

Ron Meeks - Colts D sucked when he was the DC

Jake Delhomme

John Kasay - retire honorably

Rhys Lloyd - find a kicker that can handle kickoffs and extra points!

Julius Peppers

The bottom line is that the Panthers have no choice but to rebuild and sadly the question is how after we've mortgaged away our future. Feel free to question my commitment as a fan - I go to training camp in Spartanburg, have season tickets, and go to Panthers Talk after every game. And yes, I will be asking Coach Fox once again, why the continual loyalty to Delhomme at tomorrow's Panthers Talk.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

Fwiw, I think we are ok talent wise everywhere except QB. The online is good, the defense is playing well, we have a good pair of backs, and one of the most talented receivers in the game.

Maybe Kasay should retire, but usually he is one of the most accurate field goal kickers in the game, and that aint easy to find. We need to handle punts and kickoff's better on both sides and we need to be able to pass the ball more than 5 yards. Do that, and we can win some games.

    • You realize the Commanders and Texans both had trash rosters. That's how they ended up with the #2 pick.   How all of sudden they go from bottom feeders to a playoff team the following season?   I think you don't realize the true impact of a franchise QB. It's crazy people still trying to debate the value of the QB position.   Y'all living in the 90's football isn't played that way anymore. The Baltimore Ravens dominate defense won in a different era. This is a QB era. You can't hit them like you could in the past. The rules have changed in favor of the QB.   Look at the elite teams in the league they all have elite QBs. Without the QB your franchise is going nowhere.   7 years under Tepper and fans still haven't realized this. Well keep ignoring the QB position and we will keep sucking. It's really that simple.
    • He needs to retire. His short stint returning to play for us showed Ho bad his shoulder had degraded.  No team is going to sign him. As soon as he retires the celebration of his career can begin.
    • The recipe over the last 5 years: 1. draft a guy with high athletic ability at a position of need.  2. play him out of his natural position because you have a big hole to fill. 3. watch him struggle.  4. let a young and promising talent grow depressed and apathetic because a God forsaken franchise is ruining what he has busted his ass his entire life to achieve.  The only reason Luke moved to the middle was because Beason got hurt. Think about that. It’s complete arrogance of the coaching staff to tell a player where he’s better suited… or the mark of a desperate team who drafts out of need.    This is what happens to teams that draft poorly and have no depth. Constantly working from behind and drafting for need.
