Fox willing to bench Jake

This sounds like Fox has already considered that the decision has been made for him. He has no choice.

I honestly feel bad for Jake at this point. I didn't the first couple weeks of the season because I was so pissed off about him slinging INTs and I still had hope that we would have a good season. At this point, I realize this season is a wash and I can see things for what they are now.

Jake obviously doesn't mean to go out there and make horrible decisions and throws... Problem is, he does it anyway. And too often at that. I loved Jake in his prime even with the occasional erratic throws... The guy could play, and he played with fire. I have a lot of good memories about Jake's play... But, like I said, at this point I feel bad for him.

It's like seeing your dog in its old age - things just keep going wrong with it, and its coming close to the inevitable... But it just keeps hanging on. You don't want to remember it that way. You want to remember it in its youth, the way it was. What Fox is doing to Jake is unfair.

Everyone on this board knows I'm as fair as they come in evaluating Jake's play - always have been. But, Fox has got to take responsibility for this. He should've pulled Jake vs Arizona, Philly, and today... To leave him out there to be eaten alive, knowing he isn't just in a funk, he's DONE physically... If he doesn't make the decision now, he is going to make it a very bitter ending for Jake. He has been great, he's sucked at times, and there's been times he hasn't done either. That's Jake.

But, it's clear he has been the best QB over any extended duration of time in our franchises history, and we have been the most successful with him a the helm (whether it was b/c of him or despite him, whatever you prefer). At least let the guy go out with the dignity he deserves. Let him ride off into the sunset as the "mentor." Just please, make the move...

Good post. I disagree that Fox should have pulled Jake midgame. The TD pass to Smith came after the second interception. We moved the ball all game. It was the punt return fumble that really sealed our fate. Prior to that I was feeling pretty good about our chances to pull it out. That long TD to Smith would have loosened up the run. Its like falling off a horse. Only way to get better is to get right back on it. The time to bench him is now to give whoever takes the helm a solid week of work.

Fox is also willing to re-arrange the QB depth chart. Feely will leapfrog Moore this week.

......dumbass.

Well, they brought in Feely because they don't have confidence in Moore, so I would say this would be no suprise at all even though I'm in favor of starting Moore.

Moore has had plenty of chance to move himself into the #2 spot since 2007. He couldn't make headway against a marginal Josh McCown.

The guy so far is Brett Basanez Part 2.

I really think Fox will go with Feeley because he has more gametime experience and that will make him feel it's the right call that gives us our best chance to win.

Again, if Moore DOES get the nod at some point and tears it up, I'll happily come back and eat crow. I'd LOVE to be wrong.

I don't know if you know this.. but Moore was #2 heading into 2008. The only reason McCown was brought in was because Moore broke his leg when the backups failed to protect him in the pocket in preseason and in practice. He's had his chances, yes, but Fox has said that Moore and McCown were pretty interchangeable in Preseason, and of course with McCown being the more "veteran" player, he's gonna go with McCown as the #2.

All Moore has to do is throw the ball without turning it over. Something Jake has been ineffective at. Considering Feeley has been the inactive member in each game, i doubt they're going to start him by any regard IF a QB change is made. And god damn it fox, you better make the change. Jake Delhomme has singley handedly made games close. He's spotting nearly EVERY TEAM WE"VE PLAYED THIS YEAR, some Touchdowns. Philly he spotted them a poo load of points. Atlanta, I don't remember this one much. Gave the cowboys a touchdown. Gave the redskins a touchdown. Gave the Bucs a touchdown. Gave the Bills 2 touchdowns. His interceptions hurt us A LOT and we wouldn't be playing from behind if he could just play smarter. All Moore will have to do is be accurate, manage the game. Don't over do it. Don't force it. He needs to be Kyle Orton of 2005. That's ALL he needs to do for us to win games.

jake will start and be pulled by the 3rd. fox wants his change to be visible when it happens. not made during the week but within the game itself. if he throws a couple of picks in the first half, it could happen then. my guess is if we go into halftime with a 2TD deficit, the panthers will take the field with a new QB in the second half.

Dont count on it. Fox will keep it a secret as long as he can. No reason to tip off the Cardinals to early.

The brown stuff hitting the whirly thing for Jake all started against the Cards in the playoff game last season.

Fox WIll start Delhomme so he (Jake) can seek redemption and repay Fox's blind faith & loyality in an out of form QB.
