Fox willing to bench Jake

That's good news, at least.

There are a few realities for this season:

1) Fox is going to be the head coach through the end of the season, no matter how poorly the Panthers play.

2) Fox will be incredibly stubborn and shows that off to the media.

However, Fox has benched QBs in the past. He is stubborn, but he is not unmovable. I think that even he is starting to realize Jake may not be the guy.

Of course, I think it's just as likely Jake starts and throws no passes next game. :(

I can't imagine Feely starting over Moore... Give the kid a chance, he can't do worse...

If Fox doesn't make a change, it's more than obvious that he is going to be stubborn until the end to save face... I don't know how that makes sense, but being stubborn often does.

Agreed, Moore certainly won't do any worse than Jake.

We may as well let him get real game time in, so we can see if we can use him as a starter next year.(while we groom a QB we hopefully draft)

He's said almost the exact same thing at least a couple of other times already this season. I have no doubt that he'll start against....Arizona. Oh God, Arizona. This could get ugly if Jake starts yet again.

I am almost positive you are wrong. I know for a fact that last week, Fox emphasized that Jake was his starter. The same was true after week 1. I am unsure of the other weeks, though I doubt it would have come up against Atlanta.

Fairly sure this is the first time we've had him say anything like that this season...

    • Sports are a different animal. It's gladiator poo. You wouldn't go out and put the uniform on of the best burger maker in your neighborhood either. So, when we watch these athletes being amazing and giving their all, it is for more than just a check. The guys that are truly driven and love these games, they are doing it for many more reasons than the money. Boiling it down to a simple transactional thing is simplistic, at best. So, yeah, I can understand how Cam can feel jilted when other great Panthers are trotted out and honored by the organization and he isn't. Especially considering he is overwhelmingly the best QB to have ever played for us and literally put this franchise into the national spotlight because of the player he was, the things he accomplished and the personality that he is. So....yeah, I would be upset about that too if I were in his shoes. The money, that the business side. That other poo, that's personal.
    • We have different people in place to do that now, but people don't seem to recognize that. I don't much care where they come from but this taking the third best QB top five in the draft over valuation because of the position, yeah we don't need to participate in that.  I build up an imaginary scenario where we can trade out of that position not too far back and get the defensive stud we want while having ammo to trade back into the late 1st if a QB falls. That we want.
    • The Panthers really shouldn't be planning to bring back Dalton for a starting salary. It would 100% be a desparation move by the front office. He's only good for 3-5 games at a time. Same with Theilen. He shouldn't factor in the Panthers' plans going forward. If anything, do him a solid and trade him in the off season - if he's still on contract.
