He'll see a jolt in page views now, but when the Newton era is finally over, the fans that wanted him gone will just jump ship if this team tumbles and stays down in the cellar for awhile which we all know is very likely considering our dire needs on both lines. By that time though the damage will be done to the huddle.

More fans than we realize have been waiting all these years for the chance to say adios to the Newton era. How many of these same people do you think gritted their teeth in agony at the sight of Cam celebrating or wearing a towel on his head? They only tolerated him and kept quiet while we were winning. There are some bigots in that bunch but largely I think it stems from a grudge of just never wanting to let go of those laughably wrong preconceived notions about Newton as a man and a player that were so heavily circulated here before the draft. Just petty spite.

If I had the time, I'd create another Panthers message board. the thisboardrocks board is comprised of about four people now, and this one is really becoming a cesspool of bad threads by juliosantos, chuck, themaulclaw and a few random racists. I really think highly of Igo, but the Huddle of 2009 is not the Huddle of 2019. Add in Igor pooing every post he sees and Igo's "could this be our new franchise QB?" "how about this guy as our franchise QB?" clickbait threads, and I'm just about at the end of my rope.

That is actually true of a lot of Cam haters.

You've may have seen me right articles for competition or whatever.  You've seen me criticize some play...but I'm telling you....I've gotta a Cam Newton coffee mug, and I was there at the 2015 NFCCG cheering my ass off and chanting MVP and Superbowl. You haven't seen me criticize that man's character and I've also have given him plenty of praise.  I just think he's in a tough spot right now, and I'm not sure there is an unmessy way out of it.  So what do you suggests?  Instead of criticizing other's arguments...offer insights into solutions.

As an aside, no fewer than six of the first 12 threads on here are related to replacing Cam. We should have one thread related to it, and all of the "they're willing to see the team handicap itself in the future to maintain Cam's brand despite injury and obvious regression" people can circlejerk themselves in that sole thread.

this is why i contributed to your thread.  you were bringing up valid points, with some i disagree and others i agree.  a level-headed discussion of facts is never a bad thing to have.  with that said, i still maintain that the idea of not retaining Cam is insane.

Tepper just bought the team. He’s choosing to sit tight while he gets a lay of the land.

Jerry Jones made a comment defending and praising Garrett after the Cowboys win, about the Garrett bashing and calls for firing, and about how patience is better than looking for the white whale coach that might be out there.

there aren’t any Sean McVaes or Doug Pedersons this year.

so you sit and wait, role with a staff that has been winning more than losing(going to the playoffs I mean)

1. assess Cam's injury with a second opinion and see how he reacts to possible surgery

2. if surgery isn't needed, rest Cam through camp and most of preseason.

3. sign a FA BandAid/draft a mid round quarterback to compete with Allen.

4. if surgery is needed and Cam needs to sit, start the winner of the battle between Allen and the FA/rookie.

How quickly people forget what a healthy Cam Newton can do in this league. You fans act like it wasn't just 3 years ago when this man was the MVP of the league and led the Panthers on a Superbowl run with nothing to work with on offense besides Greg Olsen.smh

If Cam shoulder is healthy we are in the playoffs right now. How can people give up on after 1 bad season? At least let the man get his shoulder right before we make these silly statements.

I wouldn't be shocked if he left Carolina when he becomes a FA in 2020. He is really to big a star to be playing in Charlotte. People must forgot how little attention we got before we drafted Cam. They only talk about in the media because of Cam Newton. Yet his own fans are ungrateful.smh

For sure.  What happens though if his shoulder is still toast going into 2020 2021? The final year of his deal?

taking things a season at a time would be smart. Looking into a crystal ball like that just doesn't make sense when all we have to do is speculate. At some point, it's just a waste of time. Wait and see how he is next season.

If he leaves, it'd be a mutual decision. Cam loves it here. I don't think his opinion of staying is in any way swayed by a few threads on a message board, just like the whole fanbase can't be judged by a few bandwagoners.

Just a lot of variables.  What if the guy behind center plays great next year?  Do we sit him the following year?

He bought the team in May of last year.

He's had from May 2018 to January 2019 to "get the lay of the land".  He also has the ability to watch video of past performances.

This whole "Tepper is just confused and doesn't get what's happening so he needs more time" meme is total B.S.  He knows *EXACTLY* what Ron and Marty are and *EXACTLY* what they're doing and he consciously chose to ride the "I would have taken a shot too" Pony.
