Nope. Post 6/1/18 designated release at the beginning of 2018 year.

2018 Dead Cap: $6,150,000

2019 Dead Cap: $14,700,000

2018 Cap Savings: $750,000

They kept him and now we are looking at these numbers as a post 6/1/19 cut:

2019 Dead Cap: $4,900,000

2020 Dead Cap: $9,800,000

2019 Cap Savings: $7,250,000

Dead cap of $14.7 million now versus $20.85 million if done in 2018. It's awful but our owner was awful and the GM and coach had a relationship that resembled a sinking ship on fire. Plus his big bro had a hand in it by actually lobbying for the dead wight that is his brother.

Hurney has no choice. And we were paying the money no matter what. Just a matter of when. Cutting Kalil before the season wouldn’t have changed anything. There was no out or escape

This is where the error comes from.

The mistake appears in the fully-guaranteed 2018 base salary, which per NFLPA records is $1 million. Per a source with knowledge of the deal, it’s actually $11 million.

The face of the contract shows that the $11 million salary drops to $1 million once a $10 million option bonus is exercised in 2018.

So Kalil will get $24 million fully guaranteed at signing. And as a practical matter the Panthers can move on after giving him $24 million over two years, because after that it essentially becomes a year-to-year contract.

I get a redirect notice from that link but it's honestly not surprising. Everything about this contract and all of the people involved failed. Wrong NFLPA records, sources. Fug, what a waste of everything

My stance was I just wanted to flush the toilet sooner. There was going to be dead money, it was worth it for him not playing for us anymore.
