Eric McCoy or Michael Jordan,..

having a Michael Jordan on the team would be cool ha.

from reading there’s several good draft options for centers that can also play guard. Eric McCoy is listed at 312 lbs right now, Michael is 300. Both of their scout reports say athletic at point of attack, get their hands up, effective pass and run blockers.

2nd or 3rd round we can get one.

The unfortunate part about the offensive line is that anyway you slice or dice it we desperately need a LT (unless you believe Moton is the answer, then we need a RT, remember Darryl Williams is a FA), a LG (van roten started to really get exposed the second half of the year good depth guy), and a(this may be the position we have to punt till next offseason and just role with Larsen). The spin zone on this is that because we need all three positions we can't really go wrong drafting a solid prospect anywhere on the line.

O line is easily the second most important thing to address this offseason after pass rush.

I'd put our needs as follows:

  1. DE
  2. LT
  3. DE
  4. LG
  5. C
  6. NT
  7. NB
  8. FS

First round of the draft is critical we get a stud at defensive end or a can't miss O-line prospect. Would not be surprised if this is how our draft falls, we have four picks in rounds 1-3. This also depends highly on how FA goes.

1-DE

2-G/C

3-DE

3-NB

I think OT, Center, DE, Ty Hilton type receiver and another corner.

Jawann Taylor, Michael Jordan are my first 2 picks for now. Marquise Brown for my TY Hilton. We need a guy like that to really take the top off. He’s a 4th round probably for now.

I haven’t picked some day 2 corners yet. I should say DB because a good safety would be fine too.

We need to find a long-term solution at center. Larsen is fine but he is better at guard imo, and center is the most important position on the line.

Agree and disagree.  We need a long term solution, but we've had a perennial all start at center for a decade now and our o-line has sucked the entire time.  Tackles need to be upgraded desperately.

excellent point on needing a burner at WR. might be worth a look in FA as well

Hurney has to spend the 2nd round pick on a center.

There seems to be a few that should work for our 2nd pick. I think it should be a LT and Center— we really do need a Dallas type of offensive line— Cam has deserved one for years.

No, it's not.

He was signed to a 1 year prove it deal.  He proved it, he was extended, then had a career ending concussion.

Those are the facts.

one yr stop gap to give time to find a long term solution but Gman got greedy and rolled the dice and lost...those are the facts...1 yr was the best we could hope for...

Again.  You are wrong.

He was not a 1 year stop gap.  As soon as he signed an extension, that is no longer accurate.

It's not that complicated.

    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
