What have Rivera and Hurney been up to?

good brew pubs in charlotte.  bwahahahahahahahahahaha

seriously, what do old donut head's balls taste like.  seems like you think they're krispy kreme donuts.   being a professional gambler, which is what he is, does in no way translate to football.  maybe he'll do a good job, maybe he won't.  right now he's not doing a good job.     try and spin it any way you want.  he's sucking it up right now. coulda had any gm candidate he wanted this year.  no competition.  can afford anyone he wants.   we got nothing.  now you two can go back to earning your .25 a post for pretending you know anything about hedge fund managers.

Too funny.  A "gambler" is the last thing Tepper is.  Tepper is a problem solver, one of the best problem solvers in the world.  Speaking of hedge funds, my guys were up 28bps in December, how did your guys do?

I think when Marty Hurney is in control of the roster, we lose more games than we win.

I think when Marty Hurney and Ron Rivera control the roster together, we can't even reach 500.

Correct-o-mundo!  And here’s a link to his record as GM.  He’s only had 3 winning seasons out of 12!  Straight up doo-doo.  How is he still here???!  Analytics my ass.

Not a fan of that move, but if it's only a 1 year deal, it won't kill us.

I would prefer Fitz, and just limit his throwing, and have him on a 2 year deal that we can move on from after 1 if needed.

Also wouldn't mind kicking the tires on Chase Daniel, but I'm not sure if the Bears will move on, or if he's willing to play for what he played for this season....4M.

I haven't really looked that hard at the backup QB market for next season.

The Panthers are gonna need to take a long look at it though, especially given that whomever they sign has at least the potential of starting multiple games.

And do you think Hurney’s moves this offseason were the reason for our struggles? They were some of the only bright spots. This team had plenty of issues before DG was fired as shown by the sh*tshow that was 2016.

And we were 7-9 with 7 of those losses within one score, despite having a QB with no arm the last 2 months of the season. Not sure how that is on the GM. I blame Rivera for that, though I do acknowledge we probably would’ve had at least 10 wins with a fully healthy Cam.

He let two of our cogs on the line (Star and Norwell) go the free agency, brought in 0 pass rushers to an aging Dline, and the previous year gave Turner and Gano too much money and  let a promising cheap kicker go to Kansas City. I would not call these bright spots

Point 1:

If you are a suspected playoff team, with a QB who everyone knew was dealing with a shoulder, who is close to 30 and has taken a beating since coming into the league, with a suspect O line, you absolutely HAVE to have a solid backup behind him.

Point 2:

We had 47 sacks in 2016.  2nd in the league.

We had 50 sacks in 2017.  3rd in the league.

We had 35 in 2018.  27th in the league.

Hurney had an average, at best offseason.  The Panthers had an average at best season.  The good news?  Hurney has only signed a couple stupid extensions so far...so we got that going for us.

J pep and Short fell off from 2017, could blame that on the DC or themselves but not Hurney. That's just silly. Short with 13.5 sacks in 2016, 2017 just 3 in 2018. Pep with 11 in 17 and 5 in 2018. Addison performed as expected with 9 sacks though. Other De's and DT's fell off as well. Maybe that has to do with Poe taking over for Star... maybe scheme but hard to tell. Talent was there on the DL though.

I've been kinda looking at it since before this season started.  Just don't think it's smart to have a vet team, that is playoff ready to not have a decent backup QB option.

ESPECIALLY with us knowing Cam isn't right, and our O line still a work in progress.

I think Teddy was hoping for the Brady/Jimmy treatment.  Stand beside Brees, and someone will overpay for your services.  Drew sitting may have doomed that dream though.

Time to shave some money at kicker, center, DL, and get a decent backup for Cam.  Very well could be the starter, if we shut Cam down for the season, and I for one am OK with that if the Panthes docs think it's the right course of action.

Talent was there on the DL if you had these guys a couple of years ago. Knowing where you're getting long in the tooth is part of roster management also.

As to Poe, that was just an awful signing.

He needed a better audition for that dream to come true.

I can absolutely blame it on Hurney.  Did you think that Peppers was going to have yet another career year at his age?

I didn't.

Can you expect KK to continue to be the 2nd best pass rushing DT in the game when you let Star walk?

I didn't.

But to say that Marty had no pass rush before is just flat out wrong, he had some of the very best pass rush in the league when he got here.

Yes it was but Breeland couldn't go and the team needed a NT to replace Star and he was the best available.

Couldn't afford to keep Star plus by all accounts he didn't want to be here and yes when you're paying a DT the kind of Money that KS is being paid you expect him to contribute. I've been of the opinion that Star deserved the extension first but oh well you have to work with what you have.

Yes, you could have afforded Star.  Just can't overpay a kicker, don't bring in Poe, and drop Torrey Smith.

This isn't that hard...unless you are Marty Hurney.
