Cody Ford, Panthers 2019 1st round pick

It's going to be hard to pass on any defensive lineman in the first round this year. But having a tackle would allow us to let both Williams and Kalil go and keep Clark as depth, which would be really good depth. As much as we need pressure on defense, it may be more wise to give Cam actual protection and open holes for CMC.

We don't need oline , moton on left resign Williams put him on the right , Larsen center , what we do need is another fast receiver to get open quick so cam can get rid of the ball fast

If Moton was a LT, he would have played LT in 2018.  They do not see him as a LT.  We could play him at RT again and not re-sign Williams, using the $$ we would have spent on a C...Larsen is not that good at C.

Van Roten is OK at LG---upgrade possible there.

I see this player as a G.  Footwork is a weakness?  Not many NFL OTs get away with that.

To be fair, most of the top OT prospects this year (and probably every year) need to work on their footwork. I've perused several sites, and the only top prospect that doesn't necessarily get dinged for his footwork that I've seen so far is Jonah Williams. I believe the key a lot of the time is finding something to work with. But, like you say, he is projected as a guard (with possibly tackle upside).

SMH. “They” is you. Moton was our left tackle in preseason and week 1. I don’t care if you don’t believe the articles about Clark and switching Moton to the right but stop with insinuating that the team has said anything about not believing Moton can play both sides well. If we resign Williams, Moton will be LT just like we saw this year.

With any other coaching staff I would agree but who knows with Rivera and crew. It always takes injuries to get them to make logical moves.

This

There is only ever 1 OT in every draft that is ready to Step right into the LT spot or really even 1 out of every 2-3 drafts

Heck Tunsill in Miami was light years ahead of Greg Little coming out and started out at OG.

This past years 1st round OT

Kolton Miller

https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/Kolton-Millers-Rookie-Season-Was-Painful-503850191.html

Mike Mcglinchey- solid year, but started at RT.  Pretty similar Measurables as Moton, though Moton seemeda little quicker

2017

Ryan Ramczyk- RT

Garrett Bolles- struggle so far

http://www.espn.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/289676/bouncing-back-a-big-part-of-moving-foward-garett-bolles

2016

Jack Conklin (8th overall)- RT

Ronnie Stanley (6th overall)- started at LT whole time

Laremy Tunsil- OG rookie season, LT year 2

Taylor Decker- LT

Germain Ifedi- OG

2015

Brandon Scherff- RG

Ereck Flowers

Andrus Peat- started out as backup OG, now starting OG

Cedric Ogbuehi- started at RT, benched. Backup RT, Bengals didnt pick up 5th year option.

DJ Humphries- started out at RT, moved to LT and has struggled as Cardinals has become one of worst OL in the league.

2014

Greg Robinson- 3rd team in 4 years

Jake Matthews- LT

Taylor Lewan- LT

Ja'Wuan James- RT

Thats all your OTs drafted in the 1st the last 5 years.  And Taylor Moton has proved he's better than 80% of them at LT

So you think we should move him to guard, right?

Yes

Lets move the guy who's looked like our best LT since Gross and had locked down probowl DE and good teams.  A guy who has proven more at LT in this league than 80% of the 1st round OTs rhe last 5 years.  And move him to OG and attempt to get lucky with a 1st round LT vs addressing DL needs in a strong DL class.

Especially when the track record of drafting a solid starter at OG is much better in rounds 2-4 as well.

No

Address  the needs at DE and DT round 1-2

Resign Williams which should come cheap (no team is going to throw big $$ at a guy whi has had 1 big year and comkng off a knee injury)

Slide Moton back to LT

Either package the 3rds like we did for Moton to slide back uo into the 2nd for a OG.  Or stay put and go OG and C in the 3rd.  Remember our Center looking to next year is Larsen a form UFA and Norwells replacement this year was a UFA.  So 3rd round guys SHOULD be upgrades there

I agree with you. We could draft the next steel curtain but don't think with  Moton & Williams we will be back in the playoffs , It's not fair to Cam to keep putting a average or below average line in front of him if we want him to stay the QB for another 5 to 8 years.
