If Sweat or Gary or Ferell is there, take him.

With the depth of the DT class I think there will be an opportunity there in the 2nd.

Agreed.  We need to get a DE in the first.  But not and undesized one.

Damn I love this time of year.  Hate that we won that last flippin game.  Great talent in that top 10.

Also need to hope for some great showings from some of these QBs at combine/ senior bowl to give us best shot at a quality DE in first round.

I have a feeling many are going to hype up this Duke kid a ton along with Haskins and maybe Lock.  If those 3 go before us, we essentially get the 13th pick.

Gotta remember Hurney and Ron are on borrowed time... wouldn’t be surprised to see them move up to get someone they really like

I dont see it. With all the holes in this roster, there isnt one pick we can waste. I dont see us being able to fix our talent gap issues in one year. There are glaring needs at OG, C, LT, 2 DE spots, DT/NG, FS, OLB and that says nothing about our lack if depth in numerous areas. We need 2 good years of drafting and free agency. This team is the 4th oldest in the NFL and lost 7/8 games.  It's time for a serious upgrade in talent and a youth movement.

Id be pretty happy with sweat, zach allen,  or ferrell.

I think it needs to be a DE despite our recent DT struggles.  Or Jonah Williams if he somehow slips to our pick.

I think getting any secondary,  offensive skill, LB,  or DT would be a waste of a pick.

I agree we will just end up hamstringing our roster even futher by trading up for a player that could bust. That might set our rebuild of both lines back more years.

Because Rivera believes in letting players "go out on their own terms."

It really comes down to a DC there.

Wade Phillips has a good interview months ago about 3-4 vs 4-3 and he said the schemes are mostly hybrid now and interchangeable if the DC adjusted for the player strengths and matchups properly instead of being stuck to a box. Being stuck to a box means you have to get a guy that fits what you do only, anyone else will be Poor Everette Brown,..

Melvin Ingram was like that with the Chargers,... looked like Everette Brown for a bit until the scheme was adjusted to him and then he’s a star.

so for me, drafting a high motor, high character guy is important,.. but more so if someone that will use them properly.

same like the concerns with CMac before drafting— someone who adjusts to him versus making him be something he’s not.

thats what concerns me.

It all depends

We have to get a DE.  Ferrell and Gary would be well worth the pick

Sweat and Allen woupd fit the need but woupd be a slight reach.  As those guys are projected in the 20s or later

So if a Greedy, top 5 hype CB.  The guy who who they say is the best CB since PP to come out of DBU and that includes guys like Tre'davious White and Donte Jackson.  Kid is being looked at as a Marshon Lattimore (scouts like him more than Lattimore coming out), Jalen Ramsey level guy. You take a guy like this over a Allen and Sweat everytime.  Remember, while it is a whole other offseason away. But our current #1 guy is a FA next offseason, and do we want to give Bradberry #1 CB pay?

Deionte Thompson is the same way, he ia a elite level safety prospect.  Top 10 or even 5 guy in most drafts.  Would you pass on a Malik Hooker level Safety?

We have holes, some bigger than others

We should be trying to focus on getting a edge guy.  But it would be crazy to pass on a elite top tier guy at another position, another position we are weak at on top of all that.

By the mindset of "we have to just focus on a DE". That ends you up with a Quenton Coples vs a Luke Keuchly. And our LB group was light years ahead as a position group than our current secondary, OL, and DL

Now

Zach Allen is one im watching real Closely leading up to the draft.  I feel he is a 3-4 DE.  But has the athletic ability on the edge.  See how he test etc.

But the dude I just keep putting my finger on as a comparison watching his film is this guy

http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/j.j.-watt?id=2495488

If he Does in fact show off at the combine etc.  Id be 100% on with this guy at 16.  Im just weary right now with him as a edge rusher in a 4-3
